Yea.
Training is really over.
Now I am just doing that superfluous, predictable stuff that doesn't matter.
Busting a gut for six months, twice a day, rowing race pace until I drop.

So we can safely assume that if he ever does get to BIRC his glorious new stroke will return to the "head bobbing up and down like a $10 Reno whore" style with which everybody is so familiar with? All that effort only to revert to type. 1000 posts or so on the subject too.Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside

32 spm is now enough to hit my target of 1:34/6:16.
3-to-1 ratio!
.62 seconds for the drive.
1.86 seconds for recovery.
Leisurely stuff.
My stroking power is up because I now relax my shoulders and push straight back at the catch, as I should, and more quickly, because against a lower drag.
So my head no longer bobs much at all.
13 SPI is perfect rowing for a lightweight of any age.
13 SPI @ 32 spm, 1:34 pace, is 10 MPS, the perfect ratio.
For my 2K at BIRC, I will just take 200 perfect strokes.
And the deed will be done.
I'll hit my target.
Time to sharpen!

I think it might be reasonable to claim that no 60s lwt has ever pulled much more than 10 SPI in a 2K race.

Time to sharpen! Reading the recent posts it appears you will be doing a sharpening version of rowing with breaks. Conveniently this makes it difficult to show results in a screenshot, and allows the athlete to never take true ownership of where their fitness level is. Don't say your UT2 erging with breaks already showed you, because that is only true if you did true UT2 erging, which you clearly do nothing of the sort.
Is there any chance you'll do a true predictive sharpening workout in the next 7 weeks? 4x2000, 5x1500, 4x1000, 8x500 3:30, 6x500 1:00, others? Any of those would be interesting to see and would prove to us that you're ready to accomplish all you say.
If not why not just show us a pic of your rwb routine following your first stop. Knowing how far you made it, at what speed, and at what HR would be very telling as well.

Of course, what we're seeing here is the annual unravelling of the Prof's training plan. This is something that has been repeated for most of the past 5 or 6 years. I'm assuming (and it is an assumption since none of us has actually any idea whatsoever what Ranger's training actually invloves) that because he wrongly assumes his UT2 pace is 1:48 he goes on to base 'sharpening' sessions on paces that are way outside of his capabilities. I've asked him several times this past few weeks that if his UT2 pace is indeed 1:48, then how come he can't pull a 10k at that pace? I've not got an answer, as you might expect. I do wonder whether he actually even starts any sharpening or whether after, say, 2 reps of an 8x500m @ 1:36, he has to handle down because of the lactate. Who knows? What I do know is that we'll see not one single 'sharpening' workout posted from him between now and WIRC or BIRC as this will merely confirm he is a mid-6.40's rower and no better. Let's not forget, before sharpening was to begin (which I think it has!?!?), we were promised the full raft of distance trials from FM down to 5k. Can anyone remind me how many we've seen?
Anyway, which takes me all back to what I always wonder at this time of year:
How will he manage to go on about a 6:16 for another year after pulling yet more 6:40's?

It's called interval training.
For example, 8 x 500m (3:30 rest) at 1:34 predicts a 6:28 2K.
20 x 500m (3:30 rest) at 1:34 predicts a 6:16 2K.
4 x 1K, 1:34 @ 32 spm predicts a 6:16 2K.
1' on, 1' off is usually done at 2K, or for me, 1:34.
Etc.
I'll do all of this interval work at 32 spm, 145 df., 3-to-1 ratio, 10 MPS.

Okay, great. So why will we not have seen any evidence of these workouts 7 weeks from now? Of course you don't have to show us, but you always promise to show them and never do.
