Last hurrah for the TdS this year.

42:01.3 10,000m 2:06.0 175 901 33 178
8:18.0 2,000m 2:04.5 181 924 33 174
8:22.6 4,000m 2:05.6 176 907 33 176
8:30.0 6,000m 2:07.5 169 881 33 178
8:32.8 8,000m 2:08.2 166 871 32 179
8:17.8 10,000m 2:04.4 182 924 36 187

Absolute purgatory, but a 7s PB nevertheless.

Heart rate tells the story really. It shot up to high 140s in the warm up but I put that down to nerves. Then the first 2k felt pretty good and I was pretty confident sub 41:30 was on the cards... but it seemed a very very long way after that.

Tbh I wasn't sure that I was 100% recovered from Sunday's 2k and I think this confirms that I wasn't. Very similar pace to the 60' I did a few weeks ago, so in that context a bit disappointing, but I really should stop being a malcontent! Four pbs in four weeks is pretty tidy, and I'll be going some to do that next year ( clearly I'm just approaching my athletic peak at 51).

The TdS is very hard to train for during February itself. Think I need a plan for next year.
Going again so soon after the 2k TT was bound to be tough, especially considering the slog of a 10k. That last split 2:04.4 displayed guts, congrats on the new PB!!

Congrats Ski Buddy......a PB is nothing to be sniffed at and 4 in 4 weeks is great going. Well done for keeping this going and getting the PB :)

I agree that the 2km takes a lot from you....certainly hits you hard for a number of days. My last ski was horrible and felt rough so clearly similar effects. Not sure when I will do mine.....will see how I feel post a warmup and then chuck myself into it.

36 strokes per minute in the last split? Wow... that's really fighting for it. Great push!

Sounds like you'll blow past this pb in the near future, if coming in a bit fresher. Never be content: keep fighting to be stronger! 💪 :D

Last leg of the Tour De Skierg...10k 🚨PB -56.9s🚨. Really didn't think I could get that close to 2:00 splits so pretty chuffed with this one. First 50s PB 😎😁.

Target was 2:01 best case, 2:02 still decent or 2:03 just PB. Went off hard and just tried to find some rhythm and pulled hard for the first 200m of each 2k.

40:08.7 10,000m 2:00.4 39
7:58.1 2,000m 1:59.5 38
8:00.3 4,000m 2:00.0 39
8:02.7 6,000m 2:00.6 39
8:06.4 8,000m 2:01.6 39
8:01.2 10,000m 2:00.3 41

It's been a great challenge, especially with Max to bounce off 👊

Thanks all,
The faster last 2k owed a lot to going all out for the last 40s or so when I finally felt confident that I wouldn't HD. Actually saw 1:44 on the PM in the last few strokes - suggests that putting the hammer down with 250 to go instead might have got me under 42'. Plan to focus on the rower for a few months now, with the skierg becoming the priority again in September.

Ooh... this is really very good. I thought you'd probably PB, but this improvement is really going some. The high rate is probably a really good way of using your rowing fitness. I did mine at 33, so quite a different way of going about it.

I thought I'd probably beat you on the 500, and be close on the 2k. I also thought you'd beat me fairly comfortably on the 5k and 10k, but you completely left me in the dust on this one, and I think this is the strongest of your four pieces.

Not sure I will tolerate you beating me on all four next year...

Look forward to trying some of the other distances now before reverting to the rower a bit more.

10k PB, 39:44.4, 1:59.2/500.
Nice to nail a workout after having to cut short both interval sessions this week (slightly too ambitious on both).
Managed to cut 14 seconds off my prior 2020 PB.
