Model C -- clicking sound

Post by nteeman » June 5th, 2006, 9:27 pm

I have a Model C I purchased in 2001 and I am experiencing a clicking sound at the finish of my drive, as I am about to start the return. As far as I can tell it is coming somewhere near the sprocket cog. I have changed the shock cord and the idler pulleys, and the chain is clean and oiled, but I still get the sound. I can't seem to figure out what is causing it and I am concerned I might be damaging something. The only change I seem to be able to make with it is if I move the position of chain conection to either side of the bolt it connects to. At the extremes (against either side) it seems to make a louder click when I row. When I center the chain on the bolt it makes a lesser click. But no matter what it still clicks. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

FWIW, I finally fixed this. It turned out the clicking sound was not coming from the sprocket but from one of the shock cord SCAMs. I tightened the shock cord--problem fixed. :D
