24/24 for Elizabeth to end day 1 on top - simply stunning erging looked totally under control.

Arlene had a great race in the 55-59 LW Women category (virtual, local time: 3AM). A few others sprinted off the line and quickly opened up a 20m gap. Arlene followed her plan... negative splits... don't push too hard too early. She races smart. She caught everyone and finished in first for the second time in two years. 7:53.x.

Yeah. The Olympian was sprinting hard, Elizabeth just kept cruising. Strong!
I'm watching Cameron Buchan on the men's side, too. He looks cool under fire, but Naukkarinen is pretty dang strong.

Congrats to World Champ Arlene! Your race looked pretty good too, Greg, still sub-7. Great job to both!
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

A great first day of racing. Elizabeth, Arlene (World Champion!), Andrew Benko, Gregory, Cam Buchan, Andy Sangster, and many other familiar names and faces.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

There's only an extremely small amount of people who can compete with Elizabeth & Joel, but your result is also fantastic. Well done Glenn

Thanks Stu, I was pleased how things went, given the original pb was set 13 years prior.

Well done indeed Glenn. I was watching the stream of your race but didn't catch you (a low numbered erg wasn't it?). Anyway your hard work has paid off with a 1.2s PB. Would suggest you repeat in the very near future with a verified workout at home as without the race start I'm sure you'll be sub 1:30.
