Because I'm a glutton for punishment I put in a 2k without doing any practice towards it...

Vague thought was that 220W in open rate ought to be doable - so I stupidly did the 1st 500 at 240 - backed it off and then resisted HD to grind it out to the end; appallingly paced but I hit my target - which was better than my paul's law prediction

Very glad for ergzone to show me the %'s and the splits - I'd have quit I think on my usual ergdata screens.

Well done p_b82. Huge improvement! Sometimes the body just wants to go fast and today was that day. And well done for holding on and even finishing with a flourish at the end.

Well done Peter, and with better pacing you'll probably go faster, but regardless, enjoy the PB.

I do really love Ergzone. It's been a few years since I used Ergdata, but if it's the same as I remember it there's no comparison in terms of usefulness for when it's getting messy.

5k went faster today than expected hitting 18:12.3!

Coming off longer pieces to cover the holiday challenge I approached the 5k test with a 250+ watt target but didn't have recent 5k test to better know what was possible. With 1k down and an average watts of 255 I kept upping the effort and looking to continually drive average watts up across each 1k segment. Crossing the line with a small sprint netted 269 watts / 1:49.2 split for the 5k. Happy with this result and think somewhere in the 275 watt average would be possible with tighter pacing.

Negative splitting is my jam - my default c2 screen shows average watts and I nearly always eke out a negative split by patiently driving the average watts up on every interval / across intervals / every piece. For me, it trains mental toughness and helps motivate to dig deeper as things get more difficult.

Watts and average watts are my go to on the ergdata screen, find it very useful 👍🏻
For TTs I typically try flat pacing as it is the most efficient way, but if some more left in the tank in the end, I go for a sprint 😄

Thanks for the encouragement! Sub '18 will need 10 more watts throughout or 'just' 4% more power than my latest PB. Should be achievable if all the stars align I hope! I'll let y'all know if I can pull through.

Excellent effort and great score - have to get that sub 18!
Thanks for the encouragement! Sub '18 will need 10 more watts throughout or 'just' 4% more power than my latest PB. Should be achievable if all the stars align I hope! I'll let y'all know if I can pull through.
keep going while you have the momentum - peak fitness isn't always there. I did my 5k PR 17 months ago and thought I'd find another time for a sub 18 attempt within a month but didn't manage to sustain my distance fitness and I'd be a minute away from it right now

Half-marathon in 1:22:37.2 with a wattage average of 216.

Had an off week on training consistency so thought I’d add some longer distance. I plan out all workouts based on wattage targets and aimed for a half-marathon at 212 watt average with a ramp across the piece if I was feeling good.
