Are they just for comfort or do they help give you more leverage? Do you use one?

I have one on my C2 at home, always use it as it is always on the rower. Can live without in on anything under 6K.

6K - 10k Seat pad
10K onwards - Seat pad and tea cosy

Sir Pirate

Unlike Sir Pirate, who is a ****, I don't use a seat pad, towel or anything else. Just a pair of rowing shorts for everything including 30K+ sessions.

I posted a similar topic on the UK board not too long ago (under Training if you want to have a look), and I'm still not entirely sure.

I've had a long break (over 3 months) off any form of physical exercise, let alone the terrors of the machine, and have started to not use a pad. I used to use a (delux) seat pad for every session, and at every race that I went to, but have decided to see what happens if I leave it off, and whether it really makes that much difference. I have leg problems anyway, so maybe over a long distance the pain will just meld into one easily digestible package. We'll have to see.

Xav

So, if he can do it every day, with age and weight adjustments, I can manage it once a week.

Besides we both are planning to break age group world records and that's the kind of training it will take for us to do so.
