That was a disappointment, the wrong team won for the first time since 2017.

The Acne treatment cox did his job leaving dirty water for Oxford women. Sir Matt said the lads were more biddable. Certainly no playing chicken with the stir sticks for the men. Hammersmith Bridge is falling down.

Hammersmith Bridge is falling down.
It's the oldest mechanical suspension bridge and has been "officially" falling down since April 2019 for traffic and closed since August 2020 for everyone.

GBP£3.5million and it might be safe enough to re-open.

The forged connecting rods of the suspension “chains” are a rare sight now. There was a two-lane bridge over the Brandywine at Augustine Cut-off and Loverington Ave., Wilmington DE. US employing this fabrication method until replaced in the late 1990s. Big brother to bike chain sideplates.

This morning while browsing youtube I stumbled upon the 'Veteran's Race' for this year. I hadn't realized that there even was a veterans race:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9jEYvAlJoA

Dougie won't be happy. Cambridge was DQ'd. They weren't quite as clever as the Cambridge women.
55-59: 1:33.5 3:19.2 6:55.7 18:22.0 2:47:26.5
60-64: 1:35.9 3:23.8 7:06.7 18:40.8 2:48:53.6
65-69: 1:38.6 3:31.9 7:19.2 19:26.6 3:02:06.0
70-74: 1:40.2 3:33.4 7:32.6 19:50.5 3:06:36.8
75-76: 1:43.9 3:47.7 7:50.2 20:51.3 3:13:55.7

They ignored Matt Pinsent too many times so Cambridge got what they deserved.

There's at least five races on the tideway now.
1. Men's reserve: Goldie vs Isis (Oxford won)
2. Men: Cambridge vs Oxford (Oxford won)
3. Women: Cambridge vs Oxford (Cambridge won)
4. Women's reserve: Blondie vs Osiris (Cambridge won)
5. Vets men (which included Andy Triggs-Hodge) Cambridge vs Oxford (Cambridge DQ)

Who, in their right mind ignores Matt Pinsent? Idiots!

I remember watching a video of Andy Triggs-Hodge stroking the Oxford boat to a win about 7 to 10 years ago. Impressive rower.

Thoroughly enjoyable event. A pleasure to watch. I even looked up the race (2003 I think) that finished with a one-foot margin and watched the whole thing (I'd seen clips of the finish before but never the whole race.). Youtube can be great sometimes.

I remember meeting the fine young gentleman at the NIA in Birmingham, you may have been there that year. He may row for the wrong team but he was ever so nice meeting the amateur rowers at BIRC.
