BIG 2k PB!

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
6:33.7 2,000m 1:38.4 367 1563 36
1:34.1 500m 1:34.1 420 1745 35
1:39.5 1,000m 1:39.5 355 1522 36
1:42.4 1,500m 1:42.4 326 1421 36
1:37.5 2,000m 1:37.5 378 1599 38

Previous PB was 7:07.2 but in hindsight the training I did leading up to that effort was nowhere near what is needed for me, with too little low rate stuff and too much training at too low an intensity (around UT2.5/3). Overall, I’m really happy with this! I think with more focus 6:30 could be possible. However, I’m actually at a stage in my training where I’m just enjoying training whatever the distance.
Big congratulations!
I am waiting now to see you break 6:30.

David
Thanks David, just a matter of better pacing!!

Huge PB and better pacing could put you below 6:30!

60’ row session on the plan so thought I’d pick off some ‘low hanging fruit’ and crack the 16k in an hour - and what’s an extra 93m to make it 10 miles?
Made it harder for myself at the end by a little complacency and doing the 4th 12 mins at 20 SPM with 1:52.5 average. Meant my last 12 mins was max HR and faster pace than needed.
Pleased to hit the target though.

Rowing hasn't been in a good place lately, but have been using the SkiErg a bit more.

2k PB.

Felt very sluggish and weak on the warm up. No real idea how to pace it, and was aiming at 2:04 (50 %ile), but was a bit better than expected. Had to put the hammer down to get under 8' in the end, and was gasping like a landed fish for a few minutes afterwards.

Give it a few goes, try to rate higher from the start. Should be able to get it 5/10 seconds faster.

2k TT from 3 weeks ago on New Years Eve:

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
7:54.4 2,000m 1:58.6 210 1022 23 161

Had no plans of trying this, but got in a zone and beat it by 2 seconds as the last interval of my 3k, 2,5k, 2k workout last night:

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
30:42.7 7,500m 2:02.8 189 949 23 163
12:29.1 3,000m 2:04.8 180 918 23 153
r: 5:00 541m
10:21.4 2,500m 2:04.2 182 927 23 161
r: 5:00 526m
7:52.2 2,000m 1:58.0 213 1032 25 175
r1,067m

Figure I better enjoy these huge beginner's gains the first few months, as the seconds will get harder and harder to cut as time goes on!

I did a fairly tame 6k pb this evening. It was a cut short (on account of a headache) 30 minute row, but still recorded 21:00.2, which isn't too bad :D

(I adjusted the time slightly for the 6m more that was recorded, calculated at the 1:35 pace I was rowing at at the end)

That was the plan. The idea was descending splits (at 6 minutes a piece) at 1:47.5, 1:46.5, 1:45.5, 1:44.5 and 1:43.5. I was a little ahead of schedule coming through 20 minutes, but not feeling that well, so thought I'd make the best of it and score a cheap 6k pb. On a day when I'm feeling better, 8600 should be reasonably straightforward.

I'm just working on my foundation fitness at the moment, trying to get on the erg every day for 30 minutes, varying the training zone and stroke rate. I've already seen my RHR come down 12bpm in 3 months, so I'm heading in the right direction.

That’s a fine improvement, beginner gains or not. To get a PB after a hard 3k and 2.5k is very admirable. Just think what you’d do if fresh?
