I would be happy to give it some in the virtual race (have a laptop but no ergo) in the Nearly Lightweight category - 142lb. Just need national lockdown to be lifted. Last proper weigh in for LWT was Feb 2020.

No offense intended & with the utmost respect to the organizer of CRASH B, but is that his real name or a typo?
Real name.
Okay. Used to go to a dentist, with the last name of Schmunk. Avid fly fisherman.

Registration for US Lightweight Indoor Rowing National Championships opens on Monday (January 11).
Early bird discount the first week.
https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/?job_id=7215
(Heavyweights and International athletes are welcome.)

USRowing membership NOT required.

Registering and showing support for this regatta would be a great way to demonstrate to USRowing that leaving lightweights out is not an acceptable option.
There are currently only 93 entries for USRowing indoor champs. I'd love to see the lightweight championships pass that in the first week.

I'm also going to start a separate thread on this.

PaulG, Others: I have started a new thread in this competition forum specifically to ask people (again) to contact USRowing and CRASH-B to encourage them to reinstate lightweight events at CRASH-Bs in 2021. With deep respect and admiration to "bencoolb" for initiating a lightweight regatta, CRASH-Bs are what I have been training for. Thanks!

First: I'd be excited if USRowing reversed course and included lightweights. I was training for that, too. I don't think they will. I agree that people should continue to contact USRowing and express dissatisfaction. (They've sent the same cut-and-paste response to everyone who emailed.) I emailed the USRowing event organizer back in September about including lightweights. No luck. USRowing has not included lightweights in any virtual event. They don't seem to care.

The reason I'm hosting the lightweight championships is to try to get enough people to race it so that next time, USRowing will include lightweights. USRowing will care when a bunch of people enter a race where USRowing membership is not required. The higher the number of entrants, the more USRowing will take notice. (Right now, it's only $11 to enter an asynchronous.1x.)

Also: FYI- from the CRASH-B entry packet: "There will not be
any hammers awarded this year."

It's painful time for everyone. Things are not going to be normal for awhile.

I never been a CRASH-B guy but i can see their point. Can't really award a virtual LWT fairly.

Some honor system is necessary because you can't catch all the possible cheats.

I think the CRASH-B could go crazy validating a new WR, but also trust the participants for the rest. A few cross checks against new lgwt rowers who scored near the top will tell the CRASH-B guys if they have a systemic problem and need an * for this year. Else all is good.

p.s. I want a magnetic field test for the HWGT rowers to ensure they are not using an electromagnetic assist when they pull. Or an extra magnet on the flywheel. Seriously, we don't check this stuff. No need to go crazy on the lightweights.

You can't verify that people aren't using slides, but they are still prohibited.
