2k + .6" based on 4.5 yr old PB. -2" sure sounds good to poor old me! Do that. if you normally rate around 28spm, you will probably find that holding 31+ av. rate thru the 2 and 3' bits is key.
Okay. That'll be my aim then, thanks. Did the 2k, 1.5k, 1k, 500 today at 31-34spm
I find that I don't try have the power to pull the rate is I'd like at a slower some for that long. Also learning there are different types of rowing athletes on the erg. Sprinter vs endurance may be built quite differently. So
maybe my rate is okay?
Absolutely nuked the FIRTyramid, Suzanne!
2k-2” target. 2k-7.3” result! 1:59.1 av.
Chapeau
PS: Now is the time to start building stroke power while (gradually) lowering stroke rate. Be looking for those pre-Xmas FMs from youse guys.

I was all over the place. Mentally yelling at myself to slow down one sec and struggling the next. Spm shot way up at the end, but I guess a got a good number in the end

Faach1, LWTM are stacking up like cordwood in that 2 boat! Unusual as typically HWTs go early and must wait for the lighties and the lasses to fill out the complement. Unless injured or very unfit, I would expect a rower with your 2k time to work pretty close to 300 watts. But there are those here who will post a familiarisation run and then one or more repeats later. Or some times the CTC isn’t a good fit with our strengths, current training goals, or daily training focus. It’s perfectly alright to occasionally mail one in and swim with the little fish.
Thanks Jack,
Just entered my 2nd attempt and your prediction was bang on! 2552m or 295 watts

Why would you try to lower the spm? For training ok, but intervals like this certainly not. The higher you can rate, the better.

Charlie Chan say Ah so, Glasshoppah, compass needle go clazy but boat MAKE port!
Consensual thinking never handle did pull. Suzanne worked it out her own way and certainly found the answer!

Nice to meet you all - I just joined the team via the CTC thread. My name is Max - I'm pretty new to rowing as any kind of sport (3 weeks in). My only background with it came as a part time crossfitter over the last decade. I'm trying to jump in head first. I bought an erg as part of a get healthy kick to drop some weight, but I found challenges and really wanted to join the competition. I completed the individual challenges available- HM,FM,100K, and Skeleton Crew challenge, but I saw the team challenges and wanted to get involved.
After an invite from neil262 and jackarabbit I joined the team last night. The first 10k I rowed on the team actually knocked me over the 500k mark so I'm pumped up! Nice to meet everyone. I've linkedin my log and put forum flyers in my signature, but let me know if I'm missing anything else. Looking forward to the the holiday challenge!
Hi everybody!

Welcome Max! Great to have you onboard! Congratulations on hitting 500k already, that is a phenomenal effort! Can't believe you've completed a HM, FM and a 100k! You are showing us all up!

Thanks Neil. I've been keeping a pretty slow pace, but watching a lot of shows and movies while on the erg so it seems more active than it really has been. Quick question though - am I able to join the CTC challenges or does that really start at the beginning of the season?

You can join the CTC now and join in straight away. I only joined last month.

When was the last time the legendary Mr Moller was seen on the forum? Is he still pulling world class times?

I Talk to him every now and than. Dirk had a serious injury last year, upperleg. But is doing fine again, he does train again. Both weights and rowing.
A trivia, both Dirk and I are born on exact the same day.

Interesting to hear, I hope he can produce world class times again in the future! Will he return to posting on the forum ever?

I tell him people asked for him, maybe he will give an update. He certainly has it in the back of his mind to compete again.
