I've applied https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law and deleted some postings. Someone will get banned from here if they breach that law again.

You have some serious issues, I really look forward to seeing you at a future event to discuss said issuesCitroen wrote: ↑March 28th, 2020, 6:00 pmI've applied https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law and deleted some postings. Someone will get banned from here if they breach that law again.

Dougie, Independents have been prompted to choose a challenge for April. Will hopefully know more shortly....Citroen wrote: ↑March 28th, 2020, 5:32 pmOK so right now it's a straight 2K. No bells, no whistles, no restrictions. Just row 2K and record a result.CaseyClarke wrote: ↑March 28th, 2020, 5:20 pmAgree.
This absolutely needs to change over to a new challenge on April 1st. Keeping it stuck on March indefinitely is ridiculous.
I won't be joining in. So my 185 CTCs is where my record ends.

You can have the forum moderation job. You're welcome to it. You can have the database management for the CTC you're welcome to that too. Or you can have a ban from this forum. I have no serious issues. I'm happily sitting at home trying to avoid getting a coronavirus that could kill me.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
A possible solution could be, do the change over April 1, but make it possible to enter results over a longer period.
So do the montly change over with a different CTC, but for as long as countries are (semi) locked down, make it possible to make up for lost months.
Can,t see why anyone would have anything against a solution like this. The ctc goes on, but nobody needs to miss one in the end.

Casey and John are very much against doing anything different to normal. It may be different 60 or 90 days into a lock down (two things we do know for sure are that the UK lock down will be longer than three weeks and Americans will still be dying at Easter).
Stay safe, stay indoors, wash your hands, stay well.
Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
My opinion is that, in this abnormal world, we should continue to operate in as usual a fashion as possible. i don't know the proportions but there's a considerable number of us who erg at home rather than in the gym. It's one of the few sports that can continue under the self-distancing regime.
Dougie is, I fear, correct in his prediction that the epidemic will roll on until an effective vaccine is produced. That, or so many of us are infected that herd immunity results. Either way, we aren't going to get back to normal any time soon. If Henry's suggestion were adopted, we would be adding results from challenges completed many months earlier. Again, it's just my opinion, but a clean break at the end of each month is the way to continue.
Our concerns about the CTC pale into insignificance in the context of the individual tragedies and economic consequences of this epidemic.
Stay well, keep your physical distance, and stay as fit as possible.
Regards,
Joe

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I do think a good bit of people do not have an erg at home, so those would be out.
How long the gyms will be closed, we don,t know, but can,t see everything be back to normal in say 2 months. Countries are also not on the same time pad. And looking here in Europa, even Italy is still not at its peak, all other countries are behind them.
Think we should find a way in the middle, lets keep the competition going, but for those who like to stay in, but simply can,t now make it possible to catch up. It will give to things to work around etc., but that should be doable.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
It is possible to leave an old challenge open for new entries (there's a bug in the code that allows that even if the challenge is closed in some cases). It all depends on the duration of this thing. We could re-open the April, May, June, ... challenges to new results. It may mean one heck of an epic session on the first day back in the gym.

Ok, sounds like a solution, think you don,t have to it all at once DougCitroen wrote: ↑March 29th, 2020, 8:09 amIt is possible to leave an old challenge open for new entries (there's a bug in the code that allows that even if the challenge is closed in some cases). Suggest locking participation record until further notice in fairness to those without access to an erg or unable to continue with the monthly CTChallenge due to D19. It would be of some benefit for the CTC to continue and it’s obvious Doug needs just a bit of appreciation for what he does and maybe some assistance in getting it done? We’re all on the beach. Show a little class.

Can't do that without code changes by Daren.jackarabit wrote: ↑March 29th, 2020, 10:47 amSuggest locking participation record until further notice in fairness to those without access to an erg or unable to continue with the monthly CTChallenge due to D19.
Don't need assistance. I've had 11 days sitting at home with probably 50 to go. Got all the time in the world.

Sorry! I’ll attempt to curb the temptation to show you the slightest consideration.

April CTC is
3 x 1721m / 4 mins rest. First rep standing start. Subsequent as you like.
