The headhunters failed to drop a hint about CTC participation.

Plenty of time as the FTC is his current focus. :D

Just joined the team. I am brand new to this team challenge concept. I am trying to hit 100k for the fall challenge. A few questions:

1. How do I participate with you all here: http://www.c2ctc.com/index.php?
2. Do we have any other communication mechanisms (slack, email, etc) or just this forum/thread?
3. Do we have a website or anything for the team?

Thanks!

There's a very crude (2005 tech) self registration for the C2 Cross Team Challenge at http://c2ctc.com/person.php

1. CTC registration as per Citroen’s link.
2. Email for those who enable it in this forum. Likewise private messaging. Logbook email on Concept 2 logbook site again for those who enable it in their profiles. Possibly some data exchange in Google Slack.
3. You’re using the Flyers team page. Some members are chatty; some drop by sporadically. Our most active subject probably CTC.

Hi Jess,

Its mostly via this forum. For the rest we did not follow the modern social media much.

Welcome on board, Jesse.

This thread is the main communication forum, but there is a Facebook group that gets a very rare post. The website died a long time ago, was started up again briefly, and then died again.

I try get to the forum most days to help Citroen kill spam, but don't always feel like I have something worth contributing to this thread. Obviously it would get more lively if we all chipped in with some comments about daily training, so feel free to contribute as frequently or little as you like.

While I'm here, let me add something then :) ...

On the training front I went through a rough work and travel patch in August and didn't do anything for 3 weeks, but I've been hitting the Zwift Academy training programme on the BikeErg to kickstart things again (running in parallel with their Yorkshire challenge has meant a lot of sessions on the bike). Once that's over it's back to the rower (have a CTC and Indoor Rowers League entry to do before the end of the month).

Speaking of which, are we putting a team into the IRL again, or is it a case of the first 10 to grab a slot will be the team?

Dave

I recommend not getting oneself in a brown study pondering the worthiness of one’s
posts to our team page. I post my CTC results to the page monthly simply because they are mine. I don’t expect kudos for excellence. I post them because the FF page is my page and yours.

As for hidden bennies, FF doesn’t hand out merit badges or blue ribbons but Chris Whale occasionally compiles an hon. mention list of members with “participation” records for most days rowed in a Concept 2 seasonal metre challenge or most CTC monthly challenges completed. I think of these as Frequent Flyer Awards.

Basically, the team page is a message board for old friends. Only way to have old friends is to start making new ones. :P :) :D

and as if by magic, there you have it. The all time C2CTC participation list.

We are averaging about 25-30 rowers a month with 3-4 boats. I have a bit of Gardening leave coming up, so I might put in a big effort at the gym and get some posters put up to get some more people doing it

Hi Chris

Thanks for the stats, and sorry to be an annoying pedant, but I have 98 for Forum Flyers (including September) on my records. I seem to remember one falling off in one of your past updates. To help your checking I haven't missed a CTC since my Aug 2017 return from "sabbatical" (I don't remember a discrepancy at that point).

Thanks
Dave

Maybe they will show still.

I am out this month, was a week on holliday, plan was to pick things up after that. But that completely failed, tired, injured I pull absolute nothing. Not even tried the ctc, but took a crap 6k result to give me an entry.

Bad to hear, hope you're soon fit again!

Couldn't convince my wife to give the CTC a try this month, but she already did a 5,1k row, I'll enter her pace of this session (didn't know that's OK), so we have another boat floating.

I'll give the CTC a try today, good chance to get in boat 1 for the first time :D

Simon has posted the October challenge by AIRC:

"Sorry for the late announcement! We have decided to keep it simple for October with the AIRC halloween howler. Row 666 metres from a standing start. A bit of a beast."

Regards,
Joe
Brilliant, thanks for that.
I hope you're over your norovirus infection.
