July is short enough to do it a few times to give you an idea. Will bite nevertheless. 9 years ago it was almost one like this, remember the second leg, that 400 wil be very nasty. You can,t start out a bit on reserve. Its simply not enough meters to make up.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑June 29th, 2019, 5:35 amThank you Lindsay!lindsayh wrote: ↑June 29th, 2019, 5:13 amI'm sure this is one that will get better with a "practice" run Martin.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑June 29th, 2019, 5:05 amI'll take a look what pace other rowers do, and may do it twice if the first one was too fast/slow.
Did the CTC today, time was 19:51, as I'm still not feeling 100% fit I'm pleased with that, although I had to slow down after rep 8 from 360W to 350W, the last 2 faster. That was HARD! Next CTC will be better for me
That CTC result is strong but I am sure would be faster if you had a clear run at it.
I'll try to do some fast stuff to prepare for this CTC, I did almost no speed work over the last 2 months, only UT2 and longer hard sessions, good for my aerobic fitness, but not good for fast sessions

Did the CTC today, it was really hard but I think I can go a bit harder for the 500 and 400m, nevertheless I'm very happy with the result:
4:29.9 1,500m 1:29.9 481 1954 35 77
1:32.0 500m 1:32.0 449 1846 29 73

1:13.5 400m 1:31.8 451 1853 30 76
r: 2:00 20m
0:53.9 300m 1:29.8 483 1961 32 82
r: 1:30 14m
0:34.0 200m 1:25.0 570 2261 41 73
r: 1:00 19m
0:16.5 100m 1:22.5 623 2445 47 83
Maybe I'll give it a second try at the end of the month and do some speed intervals.

Me2. Cold start which made the 500 leisurely by intention as no way I was going to front load the big chunk at sub-2’ pace! Did the best I could on the 400m without going rate crazy and was riding a rail thru the 200. Short enuf maybe I can work up an appetite for pain by month’s end and get average rate around 28-9 and pace sub-2:00.
First time on erg since 13 June except for 30’ yesterday @ 2k+25”. June weather in the mid-Atlantic was great for messing about in the Alden 16 on weekends but the heat wave last weekend put paid to that!

Quite enjoyed that CTC this morning, the 400 is the leg burner for me, will definately be doing that a few times and should get the kids to have a go as well
They were both rowing in the garage yesterday, all enthused after I supervised the school fete 1m challenge,. Great to see fro 3year olds to 70 year olds having a go.
Added them to the m's challenge, that average age needs to come down a bit

Putting the effort where it matters most in this age of tablet and fone fixation, Chris. Start em young! In fairness to my one last hurrah, bucket list generation, the big meter totals put up by those of unchallenged “maturity” arise mostly from post-retirement free time combined with reduction of ability to pursue better-loved “high impact” sports.meerkats wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 5:18 amQuite enjoyed that CTC this morning, the 400 is the leg burner for me, will definately be doing that a few times and should get the kids to have a go as well

Teach your children well. Their fathers’ hell/health etc. We all know the drill.

Re: Forum Flyers
Helloooooo anybody here?
Tough month for me, had trouble getting this months ctc done, short break, plus bizar hot weather, 40 plus, never seen here in modern times. I train outside mostly which was very close to impossible.
Did the ski early this month 129.2 from memory. Today the row, was not in the mood, so a matter of getting mind over mind. Just got it done.
500 127.7 35
400 127.3 36
300 125.8 38
200 124.7 41
100 122.0 44
Legs around the knee gave in took a while to recover a bit. Used 150 drag.

Yes, from long ago I am a big fan. More or less think the TtF winner is sportsman of the year. This year was certainly a good one. With a deserved nmr1. He was best.
Don,t like the team influence that much, would like to see more timetrials, uphill included.
Both the Giro and Tour and giro now won by South amerika! Both first timers for their countries. Both guys who attacked and had guts.
