Dargon perennially the vanguard of the IRL. Amazing stamina for a mature lad! And good that you are cracking on toward? BIRC? Paris? Pair of long life batteries both of you!

Thanks Jack. Terry is pretty amazing pound for pound especially once we get over 2k. He turns 75 in 2 weeks and has set his sights on the ARs for the 75+ so training hard. At a world level there are a couple of 70+ guys who are now well ahead - Alain Mangin in particular is very good. We race again in June then ARIC and Aus Masters in October so that is the main goal. It will be interesting to see what WR does with their IC as they may continue to move it around in the next few years.jackarabit wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2019, 8:33 amDargan perennially the vanguard of the IRL. Strategically going to Europe for the big races is now probably best left until 70+ unless I am there for family reasons - racing as a 68/9yo against the young guys would be asking a lot. My Belgian daughter is home for Xmas so no trip planned for 2020 yet (and there are Sydney based twins on the way!!). That battery is going to be a great help.

Lindsay, I sometimes forget that Oz is not just a gigantic sheep station any more. Of course you would be competing at home! interesting that both you and Mr. Dargan will age into a putative competitive advantage within a 3 year span, albeit not to the same age group. We still have a lot of sheep and cattle Jack although we are gripped by a horrendous drought at the moment. There are parts where they haven't seen any rain for 3 or more years. 15 million of the 25m of us live on the eastern coast between Melbourne and Brisbane.jackarabit wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2019, 8:44 amLindsay, I sometimes forget that Oz is not just a gigantic sheep station any more. The racing here in Oz is limited a little by numbers and geography - even our big events will be normally <140 overall and not super competitive which is why BRIC and WRIC are so attractive sometimes. Its just so damn hard to get there and perform at 100%. We have been lucky this year that Rowing NSW have made their first steps OTE.

Ctc, without looking at the leaderboard
Tried rate 28, got 28,28,29
1 315.1
2 315.1
3 312.8
Gave it a good go. Beginning to get a bit fitter.

yes me too (of course) - lots of fun. I agree with your idea of 50"/1'R to limit time too

Re: Forum Flyers
Sounds good. Any advices about pace? I expect a good bit faster than 2k (about 2 seconds)?!?

Sounds about right, think I will start out at 1.35 its short enough to have a solid pace.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑May 28th, 2019, 7:16 amSounds good. Any advices about pace? I expect a good bit faster than 2k (about 2 seconds)?!?

Re: Forum Flyers
It will depend a bit on how much you like intervals I reckon and also what they exactly decide to do as there is some "dispute" as to whether the total CTC time limit of 45' is exceeded for some paticipants. I think a bit faster than that - my best ever 20x 1'/1'R (about 5 years ago) was @1:38.5 which was 2k-3/4 I guess and recently (May 7) I did 20x 45"/75"R @1:42.9 which is 2k-2. My best guess is 2k-3+ maybe closer for some but I wouldn't like to argue with Henry about it!MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑May 28th, 2019, 7:16 amSounds good. Any advices about pace? Re: Forum Flyers
Thank you Henry and Lindsay!
I haven't done a session with so many intervals (never did more than 8x500 I think), so I'll start with 1:39-1:40 and see how it works, won't challenge you Henry I fear

Give it a few goes, stuff like this favours stronger faster guys. You have to start again every time. That needs power.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑May 28th, 2019, 8:49 amThank you Henry and Lindsay!
