I may not be the best qualified to respond, but I would think all you would need to do is flash the appropriate firmware for the device on which you would like to use the monitor...

Thanks, Do you know how you do it?

I have updated some PM a few times, but I can't remember I got a SkiERG or a rower choice, when updating. The computer may detected the firmware. The different monitors have different firmware and also rower and SkiERG have different firmware. I will pay better attention when I update next time

I have done both. The answer is yes - you can put PM4 on SkiErg or PM5 (from a rower) on SkiErg. You do not need to update the firmware, just plug it in. Updating firmware is not possible at home (ie. changing a rowerg PM into a skiErg PM, and by changing type I mean having JustSki in the menu option rather than JustRow or Ski related games rather than Row-related games. But it is irrelevant, the whole functionality remains the same for both monitors and both type of monitors (ski- or row-type)).

Re: changing SkiERG PM4 to indoorrower PM5
Like pkiszk says, they can be switched between Erg and Skierg without any firmware changes. The differences between a SkiErg monitor and an Erg monitor are strictly cosmetic- you get a skier or a paceboat, Just Ski, etc. The pace numbers, distances, etc. are all the same. Feel free to PM me if you want to convert them- it can be done but it's more than just a mouse click. C2JonW

Re: changing SkiERG PM4 to indoorrower PM5
It does appear possible to change PM4 firmware from skierg to rowing (as I have successfully, albeit unintentionally, done so), and I would assume that rower to skierg PM is possible as well.
I am currently dealing with an issue on the PM4 that came with my skierg - when I tried to update, the initial update failed, freezing the update mid-process. When I re-updated, rowing firmware v318 was loaded - now my PM4 thinks I have a rower!
Unfortunately, I don't know to intentionally make the change or the change back, and am in the process of requesting assistance to correct.
