All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.6.13

Post by Kona2 » March 7th, 2013, 4:02 pm

Image The Madness Continues.....and today is a day of reckoning.....

March 1–31
Row or ski* 5,000 meters or more for at least 25 days in March for a chance to win prizes! Yep, that means you get six "get out of rowing 5,000 m or more" day passes, and today is March 7th. Currently, the 5K honor board is populated with 5,154 rowers. These folks have all rowed at least one day of 5K or more, and 2,359 of them have rowed 10,000 m or more for at least one day. So, 46 percent of the people in the Challenge are at least considering giving the advanced Challenge a go.

For the Lunies, we have 62 teammates who are participating in the Challenge, and we have participants on all three Challenge levels: 2,500 m and 5,000 m and 10,000 m. Stayin' alive!

At risk of disappearing from the 5K Honor Board = there are 1731 people out of the 5154 who have only rowed one day at the 5K level. If they don't row the amount today....dramatic music...they will be out of the challenge. That's 33 percent of the current honor board residents.

At risk of disappearing from the 10K Honor Board = there are 1052 people out of the 2359 who have rowed only one day at the 10K level. If they don't row the amount today....more dramatic music...they will be out of the challenge at the 10K level. That's 45 percent of the current honor board residents. Of course, many of these folks may still be competing at the 5K level...

Image Meanwhile, not to complicate things too much....the FINAL Team Challenge of the Year starts on March 15th. And only 26 teammates have signed up thus far....sign on...sign on...sign on...

Season meters as of 309/365 = 131,614,942 m

Total meters on the day = 4,249,181 m

Oars in space (participation) = 30 percent

The 10K Days

Post by Kona2 » March 7th, 2013, 6:28 pm

Most people have probably already looked at the 2012 winners list to see when the chances that a second drawing for the 10K rowers will be done...based on last year's data. And last year's data is pretty close to the previous year. If we assume that there is a tried and true pattern that C2 will use (based on the fact that the first two dates of March 3 and March 5 were identical to 2012), then the next dates for the 10K drawings are:

March 9
March 13
March 17
March 21
March 25
March 27
March 31

Hooyah and go row some more!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.7.13

Post by Kona2 » March 8th, 2013, 2:26 pm

Thanks for the kudos on the million milestone! I haven't put in nearly as many hours of erg time as a lot of teammates - it is so tough to find a balance between what you want to do and what actually gets done.

Image Life on the edge ... !

When it comes to predicting what technological innovations might be next, some say that you only have to look to popular science fiction. One of my favorite science fiction writers (David Drake, RCN Series) talks about navigating through the matrix, through a sea of bubble universes. The idea that our universe is merely a bubble in an ocean of bubble universes, each with its own laws of physics, might not be so far from reality. Navigation between bubble universes is all a matter of choosing gradient differences. But I digress. The March Madness Progress Board continues to have numeric teasers... and those who are "on the bubble" for disappearing from the progress board. I don't think it's been updated just yet since those who should have disappeared haven't. No, I'm not "losing it" but it might sound like it. The 10K progress board shows 42 percent of its residents as having only 1 day of rowing 10K. It's row or jump time. The 5K board shows 31 percent of its residents as at risk in bubble-ville.

Image Meanwhile, keep the lucky horseshoe by your rowing machines....Concept2 is a few days behind in its awards...it might be YOU ! Patience.

Season meters as of 310/365 = 132,112,767 m

Total meters on the day = 497,825 m

Oars in space (participation) = 31 percent

WEC Challenge...Six Days to Liftoff!

Post by Kona2 » March 9th, 2013, 11:38 am

Image Sign on....sign on....sign on....

The World Erg Challenge starts in just six days. So far, we have 34 teammates signed on. Last year we competed with 120 teammates....might have to do some shameless advertising to build our team ranks. So, if you haven't signed on to the WEC team, go to your logbook, scroll across the top to Teams, and then scroll down to join this team for the Challenge. That's all it takes!
