Re: Pete's Plan
Thank you folks Have no idea why I could not find it myself ...
Why would people choose Pete's training over Interactive Plan http://concept2.co.uk/training/interactive ?
It seems that IP is more structured and is based on HR bands. Am I missing something?
Cheers,
Simon

The IP is for general fitness.simdim wrote: Why would people choose Pete's training over Interactive Plan http://concept2.co.uk/training/interactive ?

The Pete Plan is for racing over 2K.
Re: Pete's Plan
Pete's website does have an excellent plan for beginning ergers and those wishing to race 5Ks. The beginning erg program is also excellent for us "old fo'k" who from time to time need to recover from injuries/surgery. Pete does have a different focus than interactive, much like different OTW coachs have different focuses for their crews. Or much like every other issue of Runners World has a different take on how to train for a 5-K or 10-K. One's not "better" than another, it's whatever works for you.

Re: Pete's Plan
One big difference is that the IP is all time based intervals, while Pete is all distance based.
For some reason I like rowing for distance instead of time.
Other differences
1. Pete tried to have you rotate back to the same sessions in a very organized way, the IP is little harder to judge progress because the sessions seem to vary more.
2. Pete provide very good advice about how to pace and what to shoot for in terms of improvements
3. The IP plan is HR range based, Pete's is not
4. The rest times are proscribed in the PP, in the IP the rest is defined to be enough to get your HR to 2x resting and is flexible based on your judgement.
