Trouble getting PM2 monitor off for PM3 retrofit

Post by philwhite7 » November 15th, 2011, 11:50 pm

Hello all. So I'm selling my PM2 monitor (for my Model C) and will be upgrading it. Problem - I've removed the nuts, bolt and washers to get the monitor off, but CAN'T get the bloody thing off. The problem is that the two plastic pieces (one on each inside end, where the bolt ends went through) won't pull out without bending the side pieces of the monitor. Don't want to bust it and 1) jeopardize my sale and 2) end up with a useless monitor

Help! How do I get this thing off without breaking it!

Use a screwdriver and flex the tabs just enough on one side to get it over the lip on the washer. Don't overdo it as because of the age of the plastic it is now more brittle and you can snap the tabs.

The PM3 will not fit on the PM2 arm so you need another arm or the retrofit kit.

You can however fit the PM3 on top of the PM2 like I did with my Model C with a couple of alloy brackets I made to go up either side. This works out the perfect width and the PM3 just slides in and doesn't even need a bolt. Worked really well especially with a second tach pickup I fitted you could use both monitors at once.

Thanks, Carl. It worked, and I sold it. Going to do my first row with my new PM3 later today - and I will be thankful for it!
