Taff Attack
Lots of people use folded towels, bubble wrap, special C2 foam seat pads, etc. No problem with ranking (maybe they should have the choice Standard, Slides, and Cushion?)
HOw did the marathon go? Did you do it all in one shot or take any breaks? Fill us in. I'm planning on doing one before the season ends. Don'[t forget to request your Marathon Mug from C2!

Thanks for that Carla, was a terrible row I'm afraid - 3 hrs 49. Had to keep stopping every 5k or so after half way due to pain in bottom area. Only finished because I'm stubborn like that! 75th out of 77 in my age group so plenty of room for improvement to say the least.
Cheers, Paul

Don't worry about the time or ranking Paul. Just finishing a FM is a major achievement as far as I'm concerned. I've yet to do one but have one pland for May (there's a load of us having a Marathon Day). Not looking forward to it thoughpaulv wrote:Thanks for that Carla, was a terrible row I'm afraid - 3 hrs 49. Had to keep stopping every 5k or so after half way due to pain in bottom area. I'll probably do mine next week once the 24-hour relay is over with.dadams wrote:Carla,

Paul,
The Marathon Day is May 20th. Here's the link to the discussion on the UK site:

Paul - we are in the same age group, maybe I'll try one then at least you'll be 75th out of 78 as I come in about half an hour after your timepaulv wrote:Thanks for that Carla, was a terrible row I'm afraid - 3 hrs 49. How come no one has mentioned Daren Leaving Taff Attack?

How many people are doing it, how long is each stint, & is it for a cause or just a lark?I'll probably do mine next week once the 24-hour relay is over with.
Hey, when did he go? I haven't been checking out the team page much lately but you're right, I see his Rugby test is now listed for Sub 7. Hey Daren, if you are reading the Taff thread any more, we'll miss you more than we'll miss your meters. Don't be a stranger! How come no one has mentioned Daren Leaving Taff Attack?
Sometimes it takes more toughness to finish a distance when you 've stopped and started a million times than when you can go it all the way through, so hat's off to you for persevering!Had to keep stopping every 5k or so after half way due to pain in bottom area. Only finished because I'm stubborn

He's not joined SUB-7, that's "Darin (H)" who is someone else entirely. I got a PM from Daren about removing him from the Virtual Team Challenge team. He's not publicly explained why.seat5 wrote:Hey, when did he go? I haven't been checking out the team page much lately but you're right, I see his Rugby test is now listed for Sub 7. GOT TO BE SAID
Since we started this team we have had the the banter with our English
Foe on race days as would be expected. They say we are Troggs who live in Caves,TRUE...They say the that we do not have a up to date postal system and reley on the poney exspress.TRUE....ETC ETC ETC All good fun lets have it...BUT things have changed,we are now known as the liars and cheats and its all down to you you Dwayne,Thats because you claim world records and times the rest of us can only dream of.The times you claim are all done behind closed doors in the dark and usually a tiny bit more than the best rowers out there.Bullshit.I have seen the best in action
at the BIRC the last 2 years, they do not hide but put it on the line...I have also seen the rest of the TAFFF ATTACK team hurt themselves for the good of the team and themselves and win nothing at all..Respect..I would rather have a honest last place than a bullshit first.
We have been in contact with the USA indoor rowing people who only confirm what we think..
Sling your hook,on your bike, if some other desperate team wants you
good luck you them..

This wasn't a pre-planned decision but I have to say I agree with the Chip on this one, and I am standing by him.
It has been hard for us to race amoungst all this controversy. What you have to understand is that we race with the people that are questioning Dwayne, and we appreciate the points of their argument. The circumstances of Dwaynes rows, and his unwillingness to compete are enough for me to doubt his performances. I personally have tried to remain neutral in the hope Dwayne would answer the questions but he does not.
I don't want to name other people but when you go to an event and watch how people push themselves into the pain zone to perform I feel like they are being insulted - I cannot sit back and allow it to happen - If we are wrong then so be it, but the evidence to the truth is not forthcoming and hasn't been in six months - I'm tired and the forum is suffering for this continual debate
This week was the final straw when the integrity of Taff Attack, the team we started, and race for with great pride was called into question. I also believe we have lost active contibuters to this forum because of this argument.
Taff Attack is bigger than me and Robert now so I guess one of two things will happen.
Dwayne will step down and his followers will have to decide to leave or stay.
Dwayne will stay and me + Robert will be ousted to start again.
I can live with either situation, but I can't be associated with the same team as Dwayne Adams anymore.
