It was an internetrace which I noticed about 1 minute for the start, so without a warming up I checked in, clicked ok and at the countdown I rushed to get on the C2. Then noticed my son must have been rowing because the damper was at level 1 and the foot board was all the way down. Missed a few second there to correct the right settings. At the end the PM2+ monitor showed 16635m. My PB is 16636. There were no results saved at the digitalrowing server until the next day. Surprisingly the result over there showed 16636. PB or not? To get rid of this uncertainty I would like to join you next saturday to row a 16636+. If you want to row in the morning, we should start at 8:20 local time (6:20GMT). However, I would prefer an end of the afternoon row, e.g. starting between 16:00 and 18:00 local time (= between 14:00 and 16:00 GMT). Looking forward to this race.

Jaap
If you don't object I'll set up the race for 15:30 GMT.

If you dont mind a slowpoke, I might join you for a row between 1400 and 1600 GMT as well (that's 7am to 9am US pacific time, isn't it?). I'll be VERY slow - just joining for the social aspect really. I expect no more than 13k meters out of it... OK to join you?

- trying to get back in shape...

Mark:
Just have seen your profile. We're nearly twins: same birthday, more or less same size and weight (at least a couple of months ago).
I don't know you, but somehow I'm glad you're there.
Welcome back!

I wonder, did you guys see my boat leave, because in my e-row display, I was the only one who started. Since I've had the experience before that sometime boats stay for a moment at the starting line and then suddenly jump forward to the right place, I decided to keep on rowing for a while. Then after 90 seconds or so, a windows message was shown which I could not read because I'm too far from the monitor when rowing. I assumed you guys wanted a restart (is that possible at all, to send a message after a race has started?). So I stopped to have a better look at the mesage. It said: you have successfully connected to digitalrowing!!!
Thanks for letting me know in the middle of a race. I had a look at the chat box and saw all you guys were rowing the race. It was stupid to stop, I will never do that again. I got angry (now I know the feeling, Phil) and did the 1 hour offline. Broke my pb with 163m (16799m, avg 1:47.1). When I looked for the results for the others, this was certainly not enough to beat Michael who broke the 17k barrier with 77m: 17077m (avg 1:45.4)! Congratulations Michael, was it a good race? I'm sorry I missed it.

Jaap
Yes, I saw your boat start. It looked liked you rowed for a little bit, then you turned grey. You should have stayed in.

Mike did a great race. I just putted along since I have a handicap race tomorrow. No since killing myself before hand.

Jeff

Jaap, you were sorely missed. I saw you pull off at 1:43 ahead of myself
and thought that you are fiercely determined to kick my butt. Too bad you lost the connection. I am sure you would have gone past 17K and it would have been fun to slug it out.

Wow = nice row, guys! RowPro seemed to simply stop receiving PM2+ info for me after about 2800m - my boat stopped and the animation halted, even though the PM2+ kept counting the meters. Oddly enough, I saw the lead the two of you had on me continue to increase throughout the race, so RowPro thought I had stopped rowing! (By the end, RowPro showed me as something like 11,000 meters behind! ).

Anyway, this was my first 1-hour row of the season, so I did not push it at all. While you guys were slamming down some amazing splits, I puttered along at 18spm, managing to get 13548m for the effort, with HR in the range of 130 (up to 145 at the end).

Thanks for the social row, folks!

Ancho - my "twin" brother - I hope we get a chance to row online together sometime. Hope the summer is treating you well in Barcelona!

Regards,
Mark

Wel done Michael. Anything more than 17k is very good.Is this your PB, if not what is? At what drag did you row and what was you stroke rate and HR?
It is a PB (the old one was 16746). I was on drag 98 with the footpads all the way down. Stroke rate was 26 mostly. I did not check the heart rate.
The low drag works very well for me.

It was a lucky row. Everything (eating, rest, ambient temperature, rowpro motivation) must have fallen into place perfectly. Given my performances so far
it was not very likely to reach 17K.
