Newbie

Post by denver_bill » November 15th, 2009, 4:34 pm

I wanted to introduce myself as a new member. I joined this weekend. Don't see my name under the Team list yet. Hopefully that will come soon.

I live in Colorado. I am primarily a biker but love the full body exercise of indoor rowing. I bought my model C back in the '90's. Even though I really like the workout it provides, I go through long periods of not using it.

BUT, I recently decided to finally reach the 1M meter mark and am now only 130k meters away. I should reach it within 2 weeks. But I have no plans on stopping. I'm just back into the groove.

I joined the team to help reach the moon. Never been there myself. :D

It's big time snowy here today. It's a good day to erg.

Re: Woohoo! Tomo earns his 20K C2 pin!

Things to look forward to for some of our waaaay younger crew members: the pin the individual starts with depends upon the age of the young rower at the time he or she starts working towards the awards.

Tomo said thanks....he had to wait to Sunday to complete it as he did a 1,500m race on Saturday and was too weary afterwards...mind you he put in a great effort and ran a faster pace than his usual 800m.....told him it was all the rowing he did during the week.

Not sure if he'll get a row in today (or me for that matter) temperatures expected to be 38c degrees (just on the 100f) at home and the ERG is in the garage...another 5c degrees warmer under the tin roof!

Cheers

Another Coloradoan!

Cool - another Coloradoan on the lunar mission! Welcome Denver Bill - and Kiba's right, as soon as you post meters after you've signed on with the team, you'll show up on the team boards. We'll be delighted to cheer you on towards your first million!

Here's what our team jargon means when we post distances: and not everyone rows mega-distances - we just make a really big deal about all kinds of distances

Image a supernova designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent of 100,000 m in a 24 hr period (yep....we have one who does this)
Image a red giant designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of 50,000 m in a 24 hr period
Imagea full moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a full marathon 42,195 m in a 24 hr period
Image a half moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a half marathon 21,097 m in a 24 hr period
- half or full marathons are completed in one sitting

Welcome aboard Denver Bill. Have a great rowing odyssey!

Congratulations Tomo! You are doing great!

My north of the border mission is complete! Had a nice mini get-away in Thunder Bay and brought back the tent I had my eye on. Already had it set up on my partly frozen tundra at home yesterday to start outfitting it. I think it will handle some nasty conditions just fine and that I'm really going to like this one. So now I have to start planning where I'll be using it next season....

Thanks for the welcomes. :D

It looks like my meters are still not showing up for the team. I emailed Concept2 this morning to see if their records show that I am actually a member of the team and why my meters aren't showing up.
