Great rowing Dan!
Darryl, i may take you up on a PB 10,000 in a month or so if I can ever workout the knot in my trap muscles.
The kids and I are working on a duck hunting video. We have been reviewing children's duck songs and have one for Gina - "Ducks like rain, ducks like rain, ducks like to splishy splashy in the rain."

[quote="Kristine Strasburger"]Wow, Barb, I don't know how you are running marathons with colitis on top of the major body rebellion that occurs just with the act of running that kind of mileage anyways! Have you tried different diets?
lots of trial and error and giving stuff up like caffeine and chocolate...what is frustrating is that what i can eat one day i can't the next...and different web sites give out different info...do you know of any diets that have worked...

Tall ships
Here is a visual treat for you sailors and pirates. This is a link to some Duluth News Tribune video of the tall ships, the Brig Niagara, and the Pride of Baltimore that came into port yesterday. Darryl

I went down to the harbor Friday afternoon to see the tall ships docked behind our convention center. I thought I would avoid some of the crowd expected for the weekend - wrong! There were literally thousands of people waiting in long lines to go on board and tour these sailing vessels. So I just ended up walking beside them and admiring, taking a few pictures, and viewing them from the balcony of our convention center. I can only remember sailing vessels of this size visiting the port of Duluth twice before in the 34 years I've lived in town. It is an occasion and quite the sight when they do. If the timing is right, I'm probably going to head down to the Lake to watch them depart - hopefully under full sail.Kristine Strasburger wrote:Wow, Moose, How cool to see those ships. Did you go down to the harbor? I would love to sail on something like that someday.

duck hunting
Hi team - here is a quick update on our duck hunt.
The good news is that we have been rowing more.
The bad news is that the duck as still flying away, be it as a slower rate.
This last week the ducks added 18,000 meters to their distance over us. This is down from what I had tracked as a anywhere from a 73,000 to 100.000 weekly gain.
We looked good on Friday but our meters were down this weekend.
100th day of rowing coming up.
Lets go for it. Look for an old friend to start adding meters.

I'm back. Sorry I haven't been around a while. I hurt my back and went thru some therapy. I've been working out, but it's been outside stuff and no rowing. I will start rowing today with at least 5,000 meters a day and will add more as time goes on. I assume this will be picked up from my log?
Wondering......how long will "ducks in a row last?" - is there a timetable or this "forever?"

Start slow
Hey Tom - good to hear from you! You may want to consider working up to the 5000 a day after not rowing for awhile! For me, during the summer biking months, I have to watch the distance on the rower as the muscles used are so different! You know we'll take whatever meters you can produce. The basic challenge that Jane put out there was for us to do an extra 200,000 to 250,000 m as a team to get us a bit closer to the ducks - prior to being really "in the hunt" during the holiday challenges, etc.
