Just a reminder...
Since this is the beginning of a new rowing year, your name, picture and profile will not appear on the LUNA-TICS team until you log your first meters for the year. You do not need to rejoin the team, you just need to enter some meters into your logbook, and then you will again show up as a team member.
I just checked, and we are showing up in 10th place right now with only 15 of our members having entered meters so far.

About the CRASH B's
Boston and the C.R.A.S.H. B's are calling....guess how many of our Lunar Crew already meet the qualifying times ???
I figure if we're looney enough to try for the moon, we might as well go for the C.R.A.S.H. B's (the apostrophe is important here). While you are mulling the answer to how many teammates could already qualify, you begin to realize that this audacious goal is doable....

Qualifying Times
Qualifying times are based on age/wt categories: Here's the link
http://www.concept2.com/us/training/rac ... b_qual.asp
What I see so far is that we have several people who are within striking distance of a qualifying time....Chris, Andrea, Pat, and Joe. And that's not even looking through the whole team. Most of us are going for lots of meters, and not the sprints - and there is training that is specific to the sprints. But if I were within 15 seconds of a qualifying time....I'd be going for it. I am more like a full minute plus some (even with Denver adjusted times). Check it out!

The qualifying times are ONLY for people who are hoping to get their airfare paid to Boston by C2 for this event. You do not have to have a qualifying time in order to enter the event. Anyone can enter. Here is what the C2 site currently says:
Anyone can compete in the World Indoor Rowing Championships (A.K.A. The C.R.A.S.H.-B. Sprints) provided they are 14 years of age or older.
*The qualifying times are for U.S. & Canadian indoor rowers interested in qualifying for a trip to Boston for the 2008 C.R.A.S.H.-B. Sprints in February 2008. The qualifying times are based on averages of prior years’ CRASH-B results.
Concept2 provides the airfare for up to four competitors from each of the twenty-one official satellite regattas of the
C.R.A.S.H.-B.s.
More detailed info can be found on the link Kona2 provided above.

It's good to see folks starting to check in with some meters.
Watch Kap't K; finishes one season with a Marathon and starts the next with a Half Marathon. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris seems to be spending a little extra time on the erg also.
Darryl is doing his normal four million meters a day.

You, too, Dan ... starting off in a blaze of glory, I see!Toothdoc wrote:It's good to see folks starting to check in with some meters.Dan
I found two things to be true today (Kentucky Derby). One is that I seriously dislike Mint Juleps, and the second is that Mint Juleps do not enhance a workout.
Jane, I love the pictures of y'all ... where is that wall?!
Chris
Oh ... look at the cute ticker I found at:

Chris,
A blaze of glory also risks a flame out.
I also find Mint Juleps an affront to a serious palate. I.E. they don't don't taste good.
I found a terrific Tuscan wine this week-end ($11.00 a bottle) if there is any interest I will provide details. It is a red 90% sangiovose (spelling) and 10% merlot.
Dan

Half Marathon Alert!! Times Two!!
With 39 percent of the Lunar Mission crew reporting back in for the 2009 rowing year, we've suddenly vaulted to #7 on the overall team standings. Savor the moment!
Season meters as of 3/365 = 469,656 m
Total meters on the day = 225,989 m
Oars in the water: I'm having a little difficulty with this one, so help me out! If I use last year's team membership number of 59, then 31% of the oars are in the water. If I use the current roster of 23, then 78% of the oars are in the water. As I understand it, a team member is a team member until they select to either go unaffiliated or choose another team - they just won't show up on our 2009 roster until they row some 2009 meters. So....which team number (2008 for 59 team members or 2009 for 23 team members) is correct? (I know.....perhaps I am overcomplicating this!)
Milestones:
Dan - Half Marathon
Kristine - Half Marathon
(Dang...right out of the season start gate and they're mooning us! Way to row!)
Onboard today's lunar rocket:
Angelo 31,303 m
Rodrigo 22,249 m
Dan 21,569 m
Kristine 21,097 m
Darryl 16,624 m

Tony 13,001 m
Barbara 11,250 m

AJ 10,002 m
Andrea 9,302 m
