Frankly, who the hell cares...let's just row and be done with it. The current situation reminds me of the sketch in Monty Pythons Life of Brian. I don't think so, at least Dougie is on TA now, not TAR.dadams wrote:Yeah, I don't get that comment either. Because I think you should be seeking to unify your original team not to break it into two factions. That's what being part of a team means. At the moment you're heading down the road of pissing everybody off. You need to stand back and look at it from the other members point of view. Some of us are quite active at the regional races. A team has more value than the sum of it's parts (or so they tell me).Taffy Adams wrote:Why do think it's the wrong move?Citroen wrote:I won't comment on the rationale behind TAR, except to say I think it's the wrong move.
Which I think says the same as the diatribe I've just written.wilko51 wrote:Frankly, who the hell cares...let's just row and be done with it. Carla If you are re-rowing a previous race, the pace boat runs at the pace that you rowed in the split you are in. For a 10K the pace boat wil change pace every 2K (I think) so you might find when you get past 8K you can row at a slightly slower pace and still make the time.seat5 wrote:Another failed attempt at a faster 10K tonight. I think the pace boat on the PM3 is actually psyching me out. Each time I've pretty much been on schedule to at least do as well as the time before, and with a mad sprint at the end, possibly do better. However as I almost puked last time and was like a zombie the whole next day I'm pretty apprehensive about pushing hard enough to beat it. This time I bailed with @2800 m to go. I've got to make it all the way through next time whether it makes a PB or not because this quitting is really bad!!!!!
Basically the average I'm trying to beat is 2:00.7. I was holding steady at 2:00.8 and was actually ahead of the pace boat when I bailed. I was getting puzzled and confused because how could I be ahead of the pace boat when I was .1 sec/500 slower than my final average last time? I think the pace boat was just about to suddenly speed up when I got to the last 2K and I started panicking that I wouldn't be able to speed up with it when it did.
Anyone got any thoughts on fighting this kind of idiocy?
Next time, no pace boat, just a focus on the final average, period it.

Carla,
I am afraid I don't have the luxury of the pace boat yet.
I think once you get that for through and feel like quiting the most important thing is to just focus on achieiving another 500M. If you think of the the 2800M to go and calculate how long that will take then it just scares you that you can't suffer that pain for another 10 minutes.
I went through the same today. I actually stopped with 3000Metres to go had a drink and then got going again. I went off too fast to start with and held 1.48 splits for 6Km but then started fading.
Finally managed 36.20.3. 14 seconds faster than previous attempt and if I don't stop I should be able to knock another 10 seconds off.
