slope in beam

Post by gwhealth » February 23rd, 2007, 12:52 pm

Loving my C2 Model D. I've noticed there's a slight slope going high to low from back to front - if i'm off the machine and i push the seat to the back bumper it stays. but, if i inch it forward a little, it'll slide down the beam. Is this normal? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've really taken to this little sucker and I want it to be just right. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Yes, there is a slope of about 1 inch drop over 4 feet of run. The most recent Ergs seem to have tighter seat bearings that do not roll freely to the foot stretchers, but rolling freely is what I was used to seeing. Between the 2 Model E's that recently arrived, one seat stays put anywhere on the rail and the other has begun to roll on it's own down the slope, perhaps due to slight wear. Both roll freely enough as to not be a concern when using either machine.

Welcome to the lark of Indoor rowing.

No such thing as a dumb question.

If you get the front legs on bass-akwards you'll get an excessive slope on the monorail. Martha Stewart was rowing on a badly assembled machine in this movie http://www.concept2.com/movies/Martha_S ... QT_Low.mov

Take a look at the first few seconds when the ergs first appear in the shot. The one at the back has the front legs on the right way round.

Read this thread before watching the rest of the movie, as Martha has some way to go to learn good technique http://c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5566

Welcome to the mad world of indoor rowing.
