Martha Stewart turns out to be a fan...

Post by c2bill » January 23rd, 2007, 6:35 pm

Turns out Martha Stewart is a big fan of the rowing machine... Alert viewers starting calling us yesterday to tell us they saw our rowing machine on her show. If you missed the show a brief clip is attached:

ps - and yes, i'm aware that the machine was assembled incorrectly (the front legs are on backwards) and i know that she might not be using standard rowing technique. We're reaching out to her personal trainer to get her a technique DVD and erg with the feet on correctly...

Someone should, also, tell her personal trainer that using 220-age is, generally, rubbish.

I set a new HR PB on Sunday (doing a 1hr22:49.8 HM @ 25spm) of 191. That's fourteen beats above my 220-age value.

Any chance we'll be seeing her pull a rippin' 2k and then puke on a doily?

Just watched the video. LOVE the back-arms-then-legs sequence with each stroke.

Gotta make one reconsider taking Martha's advice regarding "My favorite things..." one might think.

Nothing like seeing someone who apparently has universal "gravitas" muck up so obliviously in an area where you have knowlege.

She follows a script nicely.

c2billp, Assembling the legs incorrectly is not a huge sin, but actually having it done both ways is a little more difficult to excuse. How would Oscar Wilde have said it? "To misassemble one Erg is unfortunate, but to do so with two would point to incompetence."

Favorite quote right at the end, the ultimate oneupswomanship.
"I've done 2.65 minutes and you have only done .65" Apparently her PM's speak a different language than the rest of ours.

John, this is good for you. Whatever happy gas or other mood altering substance you are on is in perfect balance, keep it up. :D

Please don't get snippy, I'm completely serious. Whatever it is, it's working.

Cheers.

Paul,

Would you please have some introspection and stop making personal attacks.

I'm sure you would have things to offer if you focused on those.

Otherwise, Bill, how about having the courage of your convictions.

Cheers to all. :)

What personal attack? It's good to see you not up to your normal behavior, but maybe I spoke too soon. :(

Back to the drawing board. Good luck in finding balance.

I am quite impressed with Martha Stewart doing this rowing and thankful to Bill for posting the link.

As to her form it looks great. She isn't rotating at her hips but neither do a lot of rowers. So what. No big deal.

She has a long drive with her legs, then at the end of that finishes up with her arms. If others see something different then that is fine with me. I remain impressed with Martha and her many accomplishments, not only with this rowing, but also the many many things that she does.

I applaud Martha for working out on the rower even if her form isn't the best. She's exercising, and looks great for her age. So what if her form isn't perfect, she's not training to race, she's just doing CV work. Bravo for her!

Sorry John,

Your threat to run me over with your car, beat me up, and steal my passport is a bit hard to forget, or to not be offended by, but as for the very recent things you have said, nothing is offensive (well, the implication that c2bill should do something about my post wishing you well, is a little offensive), and it's mostly quite humorous to anyone who's been around long enough to have experienced your multifaceted and unique persona.

Are you going to take up a rowing style to mimic Martha? I certainly would not advise that, so it should be quite high on your list according to your previous behavior and actions. Just curious, no offense intended.

Carry on. B)
