Model A broken Speedometer/odo

Post by Nixdog » February 24th, 2009, 8:33 pm

Any C2 pro's offer advice on how to fix my Model A?

The wire connection from the "disc" to the speedometer/odo that measures speed and distance broke recently leaving my ability to measure distance on my rower zero. It seems that the wire had spun one to many times and just sheered off.

I took the wire to a bike shop, and while the tech rep wasn't there, the salesman seemed to believe that I should just contact C2.

My desire is to have it returned to it's normal state as I don't want to pay for the PM3/4. Anyone have advice? Jon, you out there?

Nixdog,
Sorry to say that none of the speedo components for the Model A are available anymore. These were bicycle components that we adapted for our use, and bicycles have all gone to digital monitoring. There was a NAPA part that worked- NAPA part #46390- which is a speedo cable kit that includes a length of the inner rotating wire that you trim to the desired length. This will only work if your outer cable housing is intact. Also of interest is NAPA part #S-206, which are the square end adaptors. Note that these are very old NAPA numbers and might also be obsolete.
Be sure to lube the cable with some oil or light grease before inserting. Good Luck! C2JonW
