Steering a single via an app on an ipad

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Steering a single via an app on an ipad

Post by City view » February 26th, 2015, 5:27 am

Been told that scullers are steering the Head of the Charles using a map app on an ipad or iphone by marking the ideal route before hand and then following the line in the race. Is this true? Anybody know what app is being used and how useful it is? Thanks.

Sorry for the late response. You might have been hearing about the Crewnerd app, which I believe you can load in a course such as the head of the charles, and it will automatically start recording based on GPS coordinates once you cross the start line (and stop after the finish line). I don't think it can steer you or display a view of the course. I've not used it, but then I'm not ever likely to row in the Charles in my single!
