Other than regularly dusting of machine, cleaning of the rail, and oiling of the chain I have not done any maintenance to my now 4 or 5 year old Model C. Last night while rowing and trying to keep a 10meters per stroke pace at 1:58, I noticed the flywheel was dying quite quickly. It almost felt at times it wouldn't even make it to 10 meters by the catch. I had the damper on 4.

Does this sound like a maintenance issue with the flywheel? I know I should be doing more to maintain the machine, but until recently everything seemed like new.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

If there is nothing on the outside blocking the vents I would suggest cleaning out the inside. After time dust will build up in there, increasing the drag factor. (Have you checked the drag factor to see if it is where one expect on a damper setting of 4?)

David
