Muscle Groups used in Rowing

Post by Romper » December 27th, 2014, 1:05 am

HI all.

This link describes how your shoulder muscles are used during the rowing stroke and what muscles within the shoulder group.

How long would it normally take a newbie (to rowing) for his/her shoulder muscles to settle in and adapt to their new movement and become less painful?

Do you feel your shoulders are having a workout when rowing?

Not really, partly but only the pulling motion, back of the shoulders. Pushing, both up and to the front don,t happen. Which gives rowers there look, strong legs and back, but chickenchest and delts.

Around the boathouse, what stands out on most rowers are their quads and lats. The adjective latissimus seems particularly appropriate for rowers.
