My model D has developed a metallic clunk noise right at the finish. It's about 2 years old with about 2.5 million well maintained metres on the clock.
It's difficult to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from because I can't replicate it without rowing but I'm guessing chain/shock cord area.
Any suggestions??

Check to make sure the seat is still fastened securely.
If it's not that, then check all the leg attachments to make sure they are secure.
Still found nothing? Is the sound prior to, right at the release, or just as the hands are being recovered?
Does the regular functioning seem to be smooth, regardless of the additional noise?

The clunk could be part of the shock cord or chain attachment inside of the housing. If so, it is easy to adjust.
