correct foot placement

Post by thomasan » December 23rd, 2006, 7:45 pm

What is the correct height for foot placement. I have approximately three holes showing and my heel is even with the rail. Is this correct. Does it matter that much.

Good question.. I have a size 13 shoe, I also have 3 holes showing.
I tried a lot of different heights, at one point I had myself convinced that the higher your feet(the more holes showing), the more efficient push I would get.

But, have now come to believe that I should just put the balls of my feet comfortably on the "riser" that the Model D has. Performance seems to be proportional to my fitness level than my foot position. :-)

The normal advice for this FAQ is:
  • Strap over where your foot / shoe bends.
  • Ankle bone level with monorail.

My preference is having the setting as high as possible but where you can still have your toes on the foot plates.

I'd put mine at the highest setting but then my toes go off the end. So I've put it one setting down. My toes are still going off the end but it's tolerable.

From the physics of it, it seems you want the feet should be as high as possilbe porvided you can have the shins vertical.
But do a search, this must have been discussed dozens of times

Ball of your foot even with the top of the rail, basically the same advice as the ankle bone, but less likely to mess up.
