I keep seeing this word Evesham a lot, especially on the U.K. forum. I gather that it is some sort of British thing, but I haven't the foggiest idea what. Is it an erg race? It seems a few months out of season for that.ancho wrote:For all those who will not be able to attend to Evesham, I've just set up te EVESHAM ONLINE CHALLENGE in rowpro:

Thanks, Bill. It sounds like a great club. It still surprises me to read about summer erg competitions - especially at a club that has a big OTW program. As far as I know, there are only four erg competitions a year held in California and all of them (San Diego, Long Beach, San Francisco area, and Sacramento area) are CRASH-B satellite regattas that are held in January and early February. For the rest of the year, the competitions are all on the water. I could see why there would be a longer season, like November through March in those areas where the winter weather makes it difficult or impossible to go out on the water, but it seems strange to have erg competitions in July in the northern hemisphere.whp4 wrote:

Just be glad you're not rowing 64 thousand kilometers with ancho early Saturday morning :) (yeah, yeah, I know, other parts of the world use the comma as a decimal point)

This is indeed an out of indoor rowing season event - competitors are mainly indoor rowers (see www.indoorrowing.org.uk for IRC afficliation) although good to see more water rowers competing this year.
