Today passed through 1e6 (that 1x10^6 or 1,000,000 for you non geeks) meters! Started in May 2005.

Have to crank up my exercising level though to lose some weight from vacation that I just got back from. Just to brag, pictures are at http://community.webshots.com/user/davidn143 . It was a transatlantic cruise from Southampton, UK to NYC with stops in Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland.

Congrats on the million. I finished my first million, but took me a bit longer (started rowing in late June of '04) Suffered through 2 injuries and a cross country move (my excuses, but mostly just being lazy I guess).

Darren

David,
Thanks for sharing your vacation pics; now I really want to go to Iceland! I completely understand your need to work off the extra calories after seeing some of that food.

Again, very generous of you...

Congratulations on your 1e6 accomplishment! I am within 12 workouts of the same and getting anxious.

If you go, you definitely have to stop for a swim at the Blue Lagoon. In case anyone hasnt heard of it, its a geothermal pool that is a deep blue color whose "soothing, mineral-rich water is rumored to have curative powers". They have a web site at http://www.bluelagoon.com/top_en/Photos/ Click on the US/UK flag in the upper right area to change the text to English. Some people on the cruise went on shore excursions that only stopped there to see it, but you really need some extra time to swim in it, so make sure you pick the right shore excursion for that (if you take a cruise that stops there). I saw that National Geographic sponsors an "expedition" to Iceland where they do a 5 - 7 day escorted tour around the whole island, or you can simply fly there yourself and just get around on your own. One thing that I didnt know about Iceland before I went there was that its basically all volcanic rock. After you leave Reykjavik, the interior areas of the island's landscape looks like you are on the moon.
