Reconditioned Erg

Post by Tim Davies » December 21st, 2023, 2:57 pm

Hi,
I’m looking for any guidance or recommendations on where I can buy a reconditioned Concept2 rower model E/higher leg version.

I’ve looked at a few on eBay and Craigslist and nearly got scammed by one would-be scammer, so I’d prefer to buy from a trusted source.

Also, I’d welcome any thoughts or recommendations on pros/cons of the taller version versus the standard height. I’ve rowed in both and whilst I can’t see any appreciable difference, the taller rower seems to suit me better.

Many thanks.

Well afaik the differences are: 1) taller legs on the E; 2) fixed arm that holds the PM on the E. That's it. So its essentially the same erg experience slightly higher off the floor and with less option on PM position. For that the new price of the E was about £100/$100 more than a D. So for the vast majority the D was the better buy, but for some the E is better and if you're one of them then go for it. Worth bearing in mind that more E's were sold to clubs/gyms than private so they will probably have been used harder but they are very robust machines. If you decide a D isn't so bad, one of the best bargains around is an ex competition machine available from C2 - ask them. Used for a day at one of the championships then available to take away for something like £100/$100 off list. If you do buy a used Rowerg model (the current D equivalent) you can now buy tall legs for it anyway.

I bought an ex championship Model D in 2018. It was virtually brand new (circa 5k on the clock) and £100 off the normal price, with £40 delivery. Well worth every penny.

As BRIC has just finished, and if you live in the UK, it's possibly a great option for you to contact C2 UK as they will probably have some machines still for sale
