Click noise on catch - Model B flywheel

Post by hbar1054 » July 13th, 2023, 1:24 pm

Hello everyone,

I get a click noise when I drive hard right after the catch point.

I isolated the noise to the flywheel, i.e. not in the monorail or seat, just pulling while standing.

I am poked around the flywheel a bit, it is movable left to right (on the axle).

Is there something I can check for to figure out what is causing the clicking -- couldn't find instructions on disassembly of the flywheel for model B, so wanted to get your opinions first before taking it apart...

Thanks,

-doug

Could be the D that locks rail to flywheel, if it has the same arrangement as my C. Touch it with a one pound hammer, in the right direction, to tighten.

Hi James,

Thanks for your suggestion, it might be related to what I found out:

The source of the noise: as I pull the chain, the sprocket (https://shop.concept2.com/parts/129-fly ... t-ket.html)

goes to the left and hits the housing, there is abot 3/4 in gap or travel distance, I am wondering if that is normal, or if there should be no give.

How does one reduce this distance, does this have to do with pushing the bearing further up into the axle?
