D1 convert to D2 ?

Post by ArthurD » May 19th, 2023, 7:39 am

Hello,
I am a member of a sea-rowing club with 3 C2 rowers 1 x D1 and 2 x D2 (early blue models) in our club.
Unfortunately, we had our monorails stolen a while back and can't afford much to replace them. I sourced a model C on ebay which fits the D1. I have now found two D1 monorails going cheap but I'm pretty sure the locking mechanism is incompatible. Does anyone know if I can convert them to fit the D2 - is it a simple case of buying 2 D2 monorail locking ends and fitting or is it more complex than that.

Many thanks for your time.

Concept 2 in Morrisville VT is the authority. Query them.

Concept 2 sells many parts that aren't listed in their online store. I suggest you contact them. They might be able to sell you a bracket or even a monorail.

I'm a bit confused by what you mean by D2. I have an OG Model D (November 2003) that is blue, and a 2nd gen (circa 2014) that is beige. The Concept 2 site only mentions two versions, but they do have a recall notice for early 2nd gens built after about 2006, which leads me to think the joint mechanism was revised.
