Syncing PM5 to ErgData

Post by BondHaimBond » April 20th, 2022, 2:12 pm

So I am not very technologically involved when it comes to rowing, however, I still would like to review my data once in a while, so I downloaded ErgData, connected my Android phone via Bluetooth and hit sync. 0 workouts were retrieved, although, PM5 has a list of my daily workouts for the past month or two. Am I using the right app for what I need?

Hi,

only actively recorded sessions with ErgData can be synced with logbook.
Already existing sessions on PM5 cannot be synced by the app. But there is a tool which can be used to read out PM5 if I am not wrong. Don't know if the tool can sync them to your logbook.

So there is no app that can download workout history and upload it to online log?

If you can connect your PM5 to a laptop then you can use the Concept2 utility to upload your workouts to your log.
See here https://www.concept2.com/service/softwa ... t2-utility

That's what I ended up doing, but it's somewhat cumbersome, having to dig out the right cable in my old junk cable drawer and hauling my laptop downstairs, when Bluetooth technology is available. Just can't believe there isn't an easier way.

I guess I can try the thumbdrive method next.

Not sure if I'm interpreting this incorrectly, but Bluetooth can be used to track sessions as long as you use it as you row. Unless you mean Bluetooth to be used to extract data from the monitor memory?

Probably not an option as it's so easy to connect and log a session if you want to collect the data, but as you say a USB stick can be used too, although it will drain your battery quicker than usual, and it's very easy to forget it if you train at a gym.

I agree Stu. I thought the PM5 upload to the log was to be a one off. Makes so much more sense to Bluetooth the phone to the PM and use Ergdata or Ergzone to run the session with a one click sync to the log at the end. Can't see why you wouldn't want to do that as the norm??
