Hi all. Looking into losing body fat with a mixture of the Skierg and Rower for liss and hiit training. My concern is losing too much muscle, but I have also read that these machines can build abit of strength but are mostly for cardio. Obviously these machines will not build mass muscle/strength like weightlifting would as it is different. But will these machines actually prevent muscle loss when using them to lose body fat? If so, what is the best way?
Thank you all

If you are not well trained, using these machines will absolutely not cause muscle loss. If you very muscled, due to weighttraining, you could.
Untrained people will build muscle if they start using them, certainly when you include some fast short work. Which will stimulate the fast muscle fibers.

Please don't cross post. It makes more work for the volunteers on the forum.

Re: Preventing muscle loss
Nice one. Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated. I think the Rower and Skierg together with hiit training would therefore suit me well.
Regarding my second post. I just thought to put it in weight loss category aswel, as my question comes under two subjects (techniqually 3, but I won't put it in Rowing ), and therefore I could receive as much valued information in return due to broadening the reader base, rather than narrowing it down too much. Looking to buy a Skierg hence the Skierg category. But I do very much appreciate any replies and will only post in one category in future. Oh and maybe other forums to acheive my wider broadening information based thoughts . Thank you, I have learnt my lesson . I am very naughty indeed lol

Re: Preventing muscle loss
I've been actively skiing on the SkiErg for a year and have gained muscle mass. Pecs, triceps, and lost an inch on my abs. Down to 35 waist. I'm 76 and love the thing. I rowed for over 20 years, but like the skierg better and incorporate it with upper body strength training.
