Just done the 'TEST ONE' step test from Eddie Fletchers Indoor Rowing Marathon Plan to get my max HR for my next training plan and noticed that 'step 5', "gives a predicted 2k time" (presumably the pace/500m figure).
Thought I'd enquire on the forum if anyone has used it and how accurate is it?
I've never been one for predictors but just got me wondering, as I've never heard of a 4' row being used for a 2k prediction.

Eddie Fletcher step test 2k predictor
2k - "into that void of silence where we cry without sound"
Re: Eddie Fletcher step test 2k predictor
Ive used it recently, about 5 weeks ago. I was following a marathon plan from RowPro but was unhappy with the HR ranges and then saw Rods post re his 100k/Marathon and thought id look at Eddies Plan. Happy with it as it seems to be showing dividends for me. Plus he has been helpful as i have settled on a 60k and then 116k which needs some tweaking re pace/HR.
The wattage at the final complete minute for me overpredicted my most recent PB at 2K 300W versus actual equivalent of 250W for a 7:34.x most recent pb.
Im not sure i am a 'good indicator' for you to compare with though as i have been away from erging for quite a while, restarting in May 2020 again.
Also for me the HRmax was on the low side compared with my recent records gained from Sunnto HR chest strap/PM4 (have changed to Polar HR/PM5 and Ergdata) For me this meant that HR target values versus pace compared with the RPE scale were off.
I therefore increased my HR max value based on measured values form November which was before i started doing HR restricted erging. Mentioned this to Eddie earlier this week.

Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

Re: Eddie Fletcher step test 2k predictor
Cheers Glen, sort of what I had figured as my 4' av pace of 1:38.3 would suggest my 2k predicted time would be 6:33.2, which whilst would be nice is a tadge quicker than where I think I am atm by about 3-4 seconds. Although proof in the pudding would be to do a full on 2k sometime soon to see I suppose
