No workouts found on USB
No workouts found on USB
I have just started up on the concept 2 in my local gym so found the forum and joined up, Big Hello to everyone!
I put a USB in the PM5 Monitor and it put the Log of the row on the usb stick, however back on the laptop after downloading the Concept 2 utility, I have tried to upload to online logbook but get an error message saying: File D:/Concept2/logbook/favourites.bin not found and it then says no workouts found on usb, yet I can see the favourites.bin on the log on the usb stick, is there something I might not be doing right? any advise is really appreciated, thank you...

Re: No workouts found on USB
If you have a smartphone then running Ergdata connected to the PM5 is orders of magnitude better than using a USB stick.
The only thing you may need to use the stick for is to upgrade the old firmware on the PM5.
If you insist on using a USB stick then search your collection of old (working) USB sticks to find one that's seven years old as that's more likely to be USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 and more likely to work with the PM5.

I've been using a 128MB Lexar JumpDrive for the past few years with no issues.
Re: No workouts found on USB
Many Thanks guys! I am off to the gym in a few minutes so will bring mobile and also an old stick plus the stick I tried yesterday as I know it downloaded the updated firmware and when I talked to one of the lads running the gym he didn't know the PM5 even had a USB setting or that it could be connected to a phone app
so I am guessing no one has ever recorded their results before.. Thanks again, hopefully this will help. Much appreciated.

Re: No workouts found on USB
Unfortunately nothing was logged, I'm not sure what the problem is. I have heard there is a Card or Flash drive for the Concept 2, tried searching online to see where to buy but with no success.
Re: No workouts found on USB
I use a USB stick that is less than 2 years old to transfer my workout data from the PM5 to my desktop and the Concept2 logbook. So it is unlikely that the age of the USB stick is causing the problem.
I prefer to use the USB stick instead of a smartphone with ErgData because it stores my own data for further statistical analysis.
I suspect that the problem is that there is some protection from uploading just any workout on the gym's PM5 to your C2 logbook. Somehow you will have to make sure that it is your workout and your USB stick. Because I am the single user of my C2 erg, these safeguards have been installed in the past and I have forgotten how they work. It is probably explained on the C2 website.

The 32KB (yes 32768 bytes) logcard was discontinued when the PM5 came out.

Re: No workouts found on USB
The PM5 doesn't know whether it's in your house, my house, a gym or on the surface of Mars. It certainly doesn't know who left a workout recorded in the NVRAM.
Re: No workouts found on USB
Thanks for the clarification.
Does this imply that when I insert my USB stick in a PM5 I can move all workouts still present on that PM5 onto my USB stick and further on to my C2 logbook ?
On the surface of Mars, at an estimated atmospheric density equal to the density found at 35 Km above the earth's surface, I guess that the flywheel meets too little resistance even with the damper set fully open.

Re: No workouts found on USB
Any workout on any PM5 in NVRAM can be moved to a USB stick and with the C2 Utility uploaded to your logbook (as long as it's been rowed between 2020/05/01 and today).
Re: No workouts found on USB
Thanks again guys, okay I understand now we either need a USB stick or the app on the phone, which I tried to pair with the PM5 but it couldn't find it, does it need a dongle of any sort for the Bluetooth?

Re: No workouts found on USB
You don't need to pair it. If you do pair it then Ergdata will not work and you'll have to muck about to get your phone to forget the PM5.
Start up the PM5 and get it ready to connect - third grey button on the main menu.
Start up the phone app. Tap a finger on the little gear wheel. Use the search for PM5 from there.
