Fitting a Concept 2 Monitor to a non-Concept 2 ski-erg

Post by LidlBananas » January 16th, 2021, 3:57 pm

Hi,
I recently bought an imported ski-erg that works fine but has a rubbish monitor. Does anyone know whether it is possible to fit a Concept 2 Monitor to a non-Concept 2 ski-erg? The body seems to be very similar, so I would imagine it is a case of buying a Concept 2 sensor and monitor, but I have no idea whether this would work or is even possible. Any advice welcome, I appreciate many will say you should have bought a Concept 2 from the start but given the current situation that was not feasible! Thanks in advance!

It's not possible because the mass and moment of inertia of the Skierg flywheel are crucial to the maths that's done by the PM5.

It will not work on a Brand-X skierg.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean that it would be inaccurate, or that it would not work at all? I would be happy to have a working but slightly inaccurate monitor than none at all, which is the case at the moment!

It won't work, you won't get comparable results (if you even got any results at all), you will waste your money.

Buying a Concept2 Skierg on the secondhand market would be a better use of your money.
