Finger Pain

Post by smargo » April 12th, 2020, 3:09 pm

I am experiencing pain in my right middle finger between my palm and the first joint. The pain started when I was rowing on the erg at the beginning of March and I finally got access to an erg yesterday and it flared up again after one workout. My finger has a dull ache now but hurts when I apply pressure. I have a feeling this can be due to a death grip that I sometimes revert to.
Has anyone had experience with this in the past and have tips I can use to prevent it? Should this be a cause of concern?

1. although when u push with the legs your arms should be straight to transfer the power - remember that it's your legs that should be doing most of the work in the stroke so don't tense the arms or hands more than u have to.

2. you could try those little pads that C2 used to sell (still sell?)

3. alternate your grip - I actually hold the handle in towards the centre much more sometimes

4. it could even be a case of 'too much too soon'...you'll know when things are adapting when you permanent callouses

Try and only hook your fingers around the handle. I don't use my thumbs at all
