ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
There are only PM3's on my gym. Recently I bought a microusb -to- USB typeB cable so I can connect my phone to the erg.
That way I can read the info with the ERGData app and I can upload it to the c2 logbook. Everything works great.
I was wondering, if I buy a heart rate sensor, lets say a polar h10 or something liket that. I guess I can link it directly to the ERGData app in my phone via bluetooth and I dont need any other cable, do I?. I mean I guess I'd see my HR on my phone screen (not on my PM3), but that will do to keep track of it and to upload the bpm to the logbook. Is that correct?
And I have another question. Yesterday I rowed on one of those PM3 ergs that had the date set at 01/01/2020. My phone's date was correct tho,February 10th. The ERGData got the training log from erg's date, not from the phone. I tried to change the date both from the app and from the uploaded training session on the c2 logbook website. I couldn't (not even sure if that is possible). Finally I deleted the workout and added it manually at the correct date. It showed something as if it wasnt't validated since it was a manually typed workout but I just did it that way. Is there a way to change the date of the workout, or any way in which the ERGData app can retrieve the date from the phone and not from the erg?
Thank you

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
To your bolded question: the PM3 through PM5 have verification codes. You can go get that code from the erg to enter manually, resulting in a verified log entry.Neorticros wrote: ↑February 11th, 2020, 12:32 pmThere are only PM3's on my gym. As for the H10... brb, lemme try that right now. Yup! You can connect an H10 to ErgData via BTLE - shows up instantly.

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
I do something similar on a PM3 at my work gym. I can't get the HR monitor to appear on the app or PM3 though. I tend to use the Polar Beat app to capture the information and review the stats after each row.Neorticros wrote: ↑February 11th, 2020, 12:32 pmThere are only PM3's on my gym. You can edit workouts in the log.

The PM3 (like the PM2 & PM2+ before it) only supports a Polar compatible ANALOG HR strap if you have the HR receiver dongle connected.Neorticros wrote: ↑February 11th, 2020, 12:32 pmI was wondering, if I buy a heart rate sensor, lets say a polar h10 or something liket that. The do a bundle with the ANALOG HR strap

That's lots of money for obsolete equipment.
I'd spend my $85 as part payment to a PM5 retrofit kit, then sell the PM3 on eBay or Craigslist.

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
Ty for answers.
Citroen, I think you are linking gadgets to connect the belt to the PM3, which I guessed too it was not an good option. That is why i was thinking of linking it directly to the app. If that works as CJ says. I may just link it there and see the HR on my phone screen instead of the PM3 screen.
Verification codes and so sounds like a lot of work. And as for workouts.. I just wanted to edit the "date" and I didn't figure out how, I guess I should check the date on the gym erg as part of the routine. As a suggestion, maybe the ERGData app could check the date from the phone as part of the configuration. That would rock.

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
Curious. I have that same cable and use it to connect my iphone using ergdata to the erg at a local gym PM4 and when I travel. If the date is not correct on the erg, the ergdata app prompts me that the erg has the wrong date and time and offers to update the information on the machine. Do you not receive this promptNeorticros wrote: ↑February 12th, 2020, 4:33 am

No, I didn't see any prompt on the PM3
But maybe it showed and I didnt see it because it was all very strange.
The cable coming from the erg was somehow pinned in the USB-B (the printer one), instead of the other. Actually I pulled the chain and the PM didnt turn on. That made me think there was something weird happening.
I guessed someone watched me with my phone the previous day and fiddled with the cables, hence the time reset.
If everything works good as it is, maybe I'll buy a HR sensor in a couple of weeks.

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
Ok, finally I bought a HR band. The other day I was in decathlon and saw a band compatible with ANT and bluetooth that was only 35€, so I bought it.
Tested it on a PM5 and everything worked great. Could see the HR on the PM5 and on the ErgData app. I updloaded the workout to the C2 logbook and everything was perfect.
Then I tested on a PM3 at the gym. I could see the HR on the screen of the ErgData app all the time. The problem was that the HR input I could see all the time was not recorded on the workout. And of course it didn't upload any HR info to the web. So, I guess the ErgData only records the info that it gets from the PM, not from the HR band, even tho I can watch it on the ErgData screen. That sucks.
Just used the app for 10 days and I can see quite a few things that could be improved, know if there is an e-mail where I could send suggestions?

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
I use a PM3 at home and my HR data does go to my logbook.
I have the USB connection from the PM3 to my Android phone.
My HR is picked by Bluetooth to ergdata on my phone only, not the PM3.
All info gets combined in ergdata and shows up in my online logbook. The HR data only appears in the graph, not in the tables.
I'd suggest trying it again with the PM3.

Re: ERGData+PM3+HR sensor and workout date question
Oh wow I just saw it. I apologize, how dumb. I saw the bpm in the split table from the pm5 log but it was not on the pm3 table so I took for granted that it didn't upload. But it's there in the graph!!! Thanks a lot!!
