Worth it? C2 Model D2/PM3/~300,000 meters/$550

Hello all,

I found a Concept 2, Model D2 with a PM3 and approximately 300,000 meters being sold on CL for $550. Is it worth it or should I wait for a better deal (I'm a poor grad student)? I live near a metropolitan area, and recently, I have seen a C2 Model D2 with a PM5 (<1,000,000 meters) sell for $600 (I was one person too late), and another one with ~1,350,000 meters on sale for $700. Thank you!

It's probably a reasonable price. But you're going to want to sell the PM3 (hopefully a PM3A) on CL or eBay after you swap it out for a PM5. The price vs the mileage is very reasonable. If you look at the holiday challenge there's lots of folks who've racked up 300,000m in less than a month.

As long as its a second gen PM3 made after about 2008 you will be fine. Look on the product ID screen of the monitor for the manufacture date and firmware version. Inside the battery compartment should have no signs of battery leakage or rust.

That seems pretty reasonable. I got $650ish for my D with PM3 a few months ago. Also, last week I sold a PM3 on eBay for $125 the same day I listed it, so if you sell yours it'll go a long way toward a new PM5.
