PM 5 - Bluetooth and HR poor connection

Post by sam81 » December 18th, 2017, 7:03 am

Hi

I have noticed the bluetooth connection from my PM5 to my Android phone is extremely poor. It often says its connected, only for it to instantly drop.

This seems to have started since the weather has began to get a lot colder (my erg is stored in my garage).

Same for my Garmin heart rate chest strap

Has anyone else notice poor bluetooth connection issues? Particularly in cold weather scenarios?

I'm on the latest release firmware btw (not the beta)

I think it's not becouse of weather. I have never noticed poor connection dependent on weather. Try to find nearest wifi or other BT and try to disconnect it.

I recently switched from iphone to android and noticed the iphone does a better job staying connected. I still have my iphone so right now I am using it to sync with my skierg instead of my google phone. I do have a lot of conflicting stuff in the air between bluetooth headphones, TV, wifi, HR monitor, bike w/powermeter, etc. so that may be part of the problem. I sure wish we had snow to get out an away from the tech.

However, the iphone is not flawless. I was skierging (anyone else call it that?) last night and iphone decided to update! First 10K continuous ski and now I can't officially record it in the logbook :(

Not sure it this helps your problem or just verifies it. You're not alone.
