Clutch slip?

Hi all,
One of the ergs at the gym I go seems to have started to slip, at the moment it's only when a powerful guy gives it some and it gives no resistance this happens only occasionally (sub 1:20 pulls) and not on every pull but it will only get worse I assume. What is the best way of fixing it? The erg is a early model d I think, it has a pm5 now so millage is unknown but probably in the tens of millions not the hundreds.

It needs a new Torrington RC121610 clutch bearing.

A tiny amount of thin grease may fix it but its probably never been lubricated and its now stuffed.

Its hard to fit and in most places unless you have a good service tech they would just replace the entire flywheel.

It might also be the chain/sprocket. If there's a distinct popping noise during the slipping then I would suspect the chain. It may just need some lube or if it's gone too long it may be necessary to replace both the chain and sprocket. If there's no associated noise when the slip occurs then it's likely the clutch which may also respond to an application of some light oil after removing the flywheel. C2JonW
