English IRC Manchester
Always assuming that it is going to be held, does anyone know when the EIRC will be held next year? It's usually in the Manchester velodrome about the end of January or beginning of February.
Thanks

Re: English IRC Manchester
Dude, what are you doing in Wroclaw?
What happened to Team Oarsome? Does it exist in any useful capacity? Do we have an active forum thread somewhere?

Hi Mike. We're doing great with a whole bunch of members but since the C2 UK forum imploded, we're Facebook orientated. Even I had to join FB to keep up with things.

Ugh. Facebook. What a drag.Tinpusher wrote:Even I had to join FB to keep up with things.
Why can't the team use a forum outside Facebook?

Don't do it, don't join the Faceborg. Drag Team Oarsome back to the forum (which is becoming more lively).stupefaction wrote:Ugh. Facebook. What a drag.Tinpusher wrote:Even I had to join FB to keep up with things.

Re: English IRC Manchester
Some people yesterday at Welsh in Cardiff reckon there is no Manchester as the Velodrome is fully booked this spring - is this real hard fact or are alternatives being considered? In my case I was planning to go to Ireland, but always liked a day out to Manchester.

Re: English IRC Manchester
There don't seem to be any outside events listed at the velodrome for the first two weekends in February: http://www.nationalcyclingcentre.com/about/events/
But that doesn't necessarily mean the arena is available, or affordable if available....
If the usual organizers want it to happen, they're running out of time (if not already there). The German national championships are already scheduled for 2/4/18 (in Essen), if you're looking for an alternative....

Re: English IRC Manchester
There are trailer parks in Sunnyvale, but not in my immediate neighborhood. I live across the street from Apple Park. I don't work there. I work at another big tech firm.
I've hardly done any rowing all year, but that's about to change. First I'm getting back on the erg, and if it goes well, I'll see about getting on the water.

Re: English IRC Manchester
Its all tech there it seems. At least your climate is more conducive to year round OTW than it was here in Ontario.

Re: English IRC Manchester
The weather is very congenial. One could easily row year-round. The trouble is that the Bay Area doesn't have much of a rowing culture. As far as I know, there's only one rowing club for adults in the South Bay. It's in Redwood City, 33 km from my current digs.

Re: English IRC Manchester
I'm glad we're on the same wavelength, Stu. As soon as I do a workout, I'm going to post it in the Team Oarsome thread.
I'm going to do something this week. Really, I am. It will be slow and short. I have to start somewhere.
