HRM Chest Strap Recommend

Post by cpcnw » June 21st, 2017, 4:09 am

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a chest strap that will work with the Polar sensor that you can actually change batteries in?

I am on my 3rd sensor [C2 have kindly replaced the previous 2] and have two chest traps which have worked on/off in the past [Sigma / BikeMate]

As I can't be sure it isn't an issue with 'compatibility' I would take advice on which chest strap to buy then take it from there.

If I have no luck then I will have to go back to C2 and investigate failing sensors!

TIA!

ps Is there a 'Gear / Kit' sub-forum yet???

After moving from the old Polar system a year or so ago to the newer ANT+ system used on the PM4 and PM5 you realise that the Polar system was pretty hopeless.

All the newer belts have replaceable batteries in them with the likes of either a CR2025 or a CR2032. Although these don't last anywhere near the 10 years of the sealed types it doesn't really matter.

Pretty sure Concept 2 sell the same Garmin ANT+ strap that I use.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have a PM3 with the Polar sensor.

The Garmin only work with PM4/5

As my Sigma watch still gets signal from the chest strap - which has worked fine in the past it looks like its another Sensor that's gone duff.

The first one wasn't Polar branded and I cant remember the make. I sent it back and C2 UK replaced it. About 6-9 months later the same thing happened and they then sent me a Polar one stating that the other one had failed.

Oddly enough since my first post I have replaced the Duracells in my PM3 even though they where reading good and popped the cell in my Sigma chest strap which measured good. Its working again - for now...
