Has anyone tried a skierg upside down yet?

Let me know if you do.

What a super idea I thought.Since my erg is bolted to the wall I thought if I stood on my head it would do the trick ok.It all started very well then when I woke up in the local A&E the nurses were very kind and said I would probably be out of the plaster casts in 6 weeks or so.
I was chatting to the doctor and telling him what I was doing and they transfered me to another hospital, its very nice, all soft furnishing, even the walls. The nurse is writing this for me as I have to wear a strange canvas coat which fastens at the back, they said it was to help me get better so thats all right.
But the best news is the doctor said yesterday if I promise to keep taking my medication I will probably be able to go home in 2 or 3 years, super. They havn't got any erg's in here so thats a bit sad.
Apparently they don't allow visitors in this wing so I'm afraid you can't come and see me,but keep erging out there. :D

I think what John is refering to is the idea of having the handles originate from a low position so you can pull up/back on them either facing or with your back to the machine. One of our cross-fitters here did it, and it does work- engages different muscles in different directions. Takes some doing to switch it over between sets though. Theoeretically if the machine had another pair of pulleys on the floor and some add-on rope length you could set it up to do both. We weren't trying to build a universal gym though.....C2JonW

Snatch or clean and jerk with dumbell will provide same exercise or bicept curls etc. etc. at somewhat less cost !

Yes, an issue being that the line of force should be as close as possible to the balls of the feet, such as when lifting a weight from the floor, or the knees.

An upside down skierg would be a couple of feet from the feet, unless it was installed at an angle.

I have been doing this exercise with handweights for a couple of weeks and it's a good exercise, either 4x 1 minute or else 5 minutes continuous, but could probably build up to an hour. I feel that lifting a weight from the knees is more efficient than pulling the same resistance down from above, the same that lifting a weight from the floor or one's knees is stronger than trying to pull a weight up to a bar overhead. In any case, the hand weights do work fine for this exercise. An advantage with a rowing or skierg machine in this position would be the use of the monitor.
